On the USNA website it lists that college freshmen should take Calculus, English, Chemistry, History and Physics if possible first semester. This presents a problem. I received a 4 on my AP Calculus AB exam and a 4 on my English Literature and Composition exam. This translates into receiving credit for a semester of Calculus and two semesters of English at VMI. I will be able to take second semester Calculus this fall but I have already received credit for the two required semesters of English so I currently cannot register for an English class. Also, my adviser said that freshmen typically do not take Chemistry, and it is very unlikely (yet possible) that an exception will be made. Should I go outside my Civil Engineering curriculum and try to get an English course? Also, how should I handle the Chemistry situation? Thank you!
