Hello all,
Can someone clarify what the definition of 'minority' is for USNA? I am Korean-American so I am a bit curious as to what category I belong in. I understand that the number of Asians attending the Academy are growing every year and am curious to see if Asians are considered 'minorities' anymore.

Thank you!

Dave

Minority as relative to the wider American populace, I reckon. Plain old white folk are still the majority, you're a minority. I've wondered about it myself, but really just joking around with mexican friends (my school is predominantly hispanic, mostly mexican).

Asians are still minorities compared to whites; however, we are quickly becoming the bigger of the groups of minorities there.

Whatever minority group you think you belong to - just check the box and don't worry about having to defend it. Nobody will ask you to prove it. There is no genealogy check. Nobody is going to ask you whether you are 1/2 Korean, 1/8 Korean, or 1/32 Korean.
