Yay MARINERS! :shake:

KP BEATS CG!!!

How can I be the first to post the awesome thread? Oh yeah, I am sure everyone else is over on the USCGA threads offering their condolences!

Oh, Luigi, oh Line In The Sand? Where are you?

Please list our other favorites Coasties too so we may properly greet them next time we run in to them here!

Sweet

I had a feeling they'd win this year after being able to stay in the game so well during the first half last week against the nationally ranked team from JHU. But still o glad they won since the other team I follow is Penn State and they are getting pasted today by Alabama...

Anybody know the score of the Soccer game and the Woman's Volleyball match?

Congrats KP! According to the other thread, KP won the soccer game 2-1.

In addition, men's x-country came in 1st today at their meet and the women's x-country placed 2nd.

USCGA volleyball did win in three games though. The plebe class thanks USCGA for the liberty tonight.

Well it does take me 4 hours to get home (5 tonight with the traffic.)

Great game, exciting finish.

Hard to be competitive when you give the ball away 4 times.

Bill George is still winless in the state of NY (all time).

Despite all the reports of the KP infrastructure falling apart, I thought the campus was beautiful and picturesque. Construction appears finished, flagpole is fixed, however they should build about 20 more parking lots (or one BIG lot)

The gym where the volleyball game was held (Ohara?) was brutally hot but the football stands were bathed in sunlight and a cool ocean breeze.

Seems recently that the home team in this series is the one who wins, and the games have all been close. Double OT win for KP in 2009, 2 point win for CGA in 2010, and GW TD with 10 seconds left this year, can't ask for a more competitive series.

Good rivals who are better friends? It doesn't get any better than that.

Luigi, hubby and I were very impressed with our first trip to KP let week. :thumb:
And yes it was a tad warm for Beat Retreat as well :shake:

Whoa whoa whoa.....better friends? I don't think so. Not enemies by any means, but I would not go so far as to call 'em friends.

Really LITS? Oh come on {{{{{{{ group hug }}}}}}.
There, don't you feel better?

Jasperdog? What ever could you mean? Not tattoos and hookers I hope!

I hope not tattoos and hookers, though the tattoo thing does seem at least for a few to have changed over the years. No but they are really 18+ year old college students when they take off their uniforms, with all that means and leads to, and for some sea year is just 10 1/2 months away. :thumb:

As Luigi says it is now definitely a great rivalry.

The weather certainly cooperated and the Academy grounds are looking better these days but much, much remains to be done starting with the renewal and reconstruction of the piers at the waterfront.

LITS is right respected rivals yes, deepest of friends would be quite a stretch, especially given last year's YouTube video exchange.

Hilarious! :yllol: video exchange you say? I went looking and struck video gold! YouTube has several new videos made by both KP and CGA in preparation for yesterdays game. On in particular spoofing "I am a kings pointer" is really good. My favorite spoof however ( having seen the original) is the one featuring a moonwalking bear! Oh please someone with some more skills and time post the link to these! :yllol: :yllol:

Here is one. Forgive me Lt Broxton but this is funny!mailto:name@address.com?subject=Share%20this%20photo

Damn, didn't work. Title is : I am a Merchant Marine.

Well, let's see. I am guessing that the local options from my day (Fireman's, Hammerm. . oh, I mean Hick's Lane Pub and McDonnell's) no longer exist, and even those or similar venues would only be open to those Plebes over 21.

Of course there is that big ol' island that is just a train ride away from Great Neck. From what I gather, there is even a bus that takes one directly there. Saving one from that long (and cold in winter) walk.

Since I am not much of a baseball or football fan anymore, do any teams still play at Shea? I remember that we could get in free either by being in uniform or by having our USNR card.

My friends at USCGA

After 3 years of posting and communicating on this site with some CGA parents, it was so nice to meet some of you finally! It was a very exciting game which kept us on the edge of our seats. We were next to the Coasty Cadets who would tease us when they scored with chants of "why so quiet?" but KP didn't fold and pulled it out at the end. After the pounding we took from Johns Hopkins the previous week it was nice to have a competitive game. Good luck to everyone during their Senior year.
