NROTC Website Problem

My DS began his NROTC application online in July, but since then has not been able to get to the second or third page without being booted to a "Error" page on the site. I don't know if this is related to the software certificate that it suggests be downloaded, but my home computer is a Mac anyway and that download is just for PCs (I even tried - won't download to Mac, and says only for PC). I've viewed my DS' application on my PC at work, and same problem.

I emailed the Help Desk, but no response. I called the number, and it when I get to the right place after pressing the right buttons, I get a "No one is availalbe to help you right now, please call back later". Geez!

Any thoughts on how to resolve this?
Thank you in advance!

Try sending a PM to P-Flying17. I believe she works at NETC in the NROTC scholarship section. Good Luck. The web site had issues last year as well.

Dolphins2012: Bird85 gave good advice on contacting P-Flying17.

I remember a slew of issues with either the NROTC website or DODMERB last year about this time. You may want to search the forum for old posts and solutions.

I seem to remember that the problems were Internet Explorer related and people had success switching to Chrome or Firefox as browsers but don't hold me to that.

Good luck!

That's exactly right. I switched from IE to Firefox on my Windows machine and all our problems (last year) went away. I'd suggest trying Firefox. I think there's a Mac version, isn't there? Chrome certainly runs on the Mac.

^ however, OP's problem seems to be within the application. The problems last year were getting INTO the application website at all... from older version of Internet Explorer.. unrelated.

I agree, email or PM P-Flying17

They Care & They Know

Dolphins2012,

My son also had problems with the online application. They are very aware of the issues. The woman that I was able to reach is very engaged. That being said she is also very busy with every application. Call again, they should give you an email address. The point of contact that is working with your child also has a direct connection to the web administrator.

Some of the data that my son entered vanished; however, they can still see what he had in there. It's a very secure site, your computer software has to be up to speed. Again call the system number they give and work it.

Good luck!!
