Decided at the last minute to go to the Navy/AF game on Oct 1. Only tickets my Mid could get were on the grass. Any helpful hints for making that experience most enjoyable?

Thanks

Get there early and bring a blanket to sit on. The hill slopes pretty good, but you can actually see the field pretty well. If it has been raining and the hill is still wet bring something to keep the water from soaking through. The hill will be pretty packed and with alot of kids. Keep your eye out after halftime, some folks decide to remain tailgating after halftime and you may be able to snag a seat or two in the stadium. I expect this game will be really packed and remain full as these games have been close ones the last few years! Also I believe this is a noon start time vice 1530.

Arrive early -- traffic will be a ZOO. You'll have to park off-site and walk/take shuttle bus to the stadium. Agree re bringing something to sit on that's waterproof. Given the early start, there could be dew, depending on whether there was morning sun to burn it off.

Apparently this is homecoming for USNA?

I'll be there with my friend's girlfriend (no no no, my friend's in Pakistan, and his girlfriend's father is a BGO).

I have a few squid friends from 2006 who will most likely be at the game.

My 5-year reunion is the week before (Coast Guard Academy v. Mass Maritime Academy, go Bears!), so I'll sport my CGA class t-shirt. Still figuring out who I'm going to cheer for... Navy or Air Force......maybe I'll just cheer for everyone.

Ah, ok, thanks. Wasn't sure if I was going to see a million classes there. Should at least see a few 2006 friends then.

We'll be there! Can't wait. Its Mids birthday! His GF is a 4 deg at USAFA, and she gets to go to the game. Her family is going out there with us. DH and I are USAFA grads, so I think I'm going to make a half USNA half USAFA tshirt!
Fortunately we were able to get tickets from Mid back in April, so we at least have seats.
Should be fun!

You can meet your kids at the concession stands under the stadium.(great food by the way). Take advantage of the Cell phone connection since Plebe movements during the games are restricted but they are allowed breaks for concession. Call them and tell them that you will meet them at such and such stand at half time. Or tell them will meet at the bottom of (X) ramp.

Young kids on the Hill love extra points and field goals. At that end almost everything ends up on the Hill and it is a huge scramble to get the ball. They (almost) always throw it back. That is also the end where the Plebes do their pushups after every Navy score. The Hill is a great place to sit back and watch the game. Lots of kids since it is the Bill The Goat Section.

Is that legal? 4/c and 3/c dating from other service academies. I always wondered that. Thought it crossed service academy lines but I wasn't sure.

DD went to a Capitols game with an Army Guy stationed in DC last weekend (Graduated from the same High School) . Had to sit with a lot of USMA graduates and had to take a lot of good natured ribbing for being a Marine. Could have probably cleaned their old clocks if required.
