My DS received a packet Saturday which contained his acceptance papers for the Naval Academy Prep School. Although he is a recruited athlete his goal has been to attend a service academy since middle school. Needless to say we are a happy family. I also like the keepsake binder they send the acceptance letter in it looks real good on our mantle.

Congratulations to you and your son. NAPSters get amazing opportunities -- if you really are a jarhead, you'll be as dazzled as we were that our son's NAPS graduation ('07) speaker was Colonel John Ripley (just a year and a half later, son was @ USNA for the colonel's funeral there -- check it out on youtube, but grab a few Kleenex first).

Our son also had terrific academic prep @ NAPS, which allowed him to waive the dreaded plebe chemistry, which later contributed to enough credits for selection as one of 20 USNA grad's to enroll in the Voluntary Graduate Education Program (VGEP). He's now working on a master's degree @ Johns Hopkins Univ before his "real" active duty begins w/ the USMC.

NAPS is an extraordinary avenue to USNA. I hope your son enjoys it.

Work with your son's BGO and he/she will present the certificate to your son at his school's awards ceremony next spring. This presentation is something we really enjoy doing; I consider it my return for working with a successful candidate. Congratulations to your son on his accomplishment - it is a big deal! Generally speaking the NAPSters do very well as midshipmen.

Jarhead,

Congratulations to your son and the rest of the family, the quest now begins to defend freedom Tell your son from me thank you for his service to the greatest country in the world, the United States of America.

God Bless and God Speed,

RGK

Good Luck In Newport:thumb: Winter can be bad but a great town in Spring, Summer and Fall. Naval Base Newport is pretty nice and downtown is a big tourist location. I have said before "lucky the Plebe that has a NAPSTER during Plebe Summer".

Thanks very much for all the well wishes. NorthernCalMother I am and always will be a Marine but it has been a few years and a few more pounds since I wore the uniform. I will check out the youtube video. DS has also applied to the Air Force Academy which has me a little torn but he is a fine young man and will make the right choice.
