I'm just curious, but are there any Active Duty on here applying for 2016? I was hoping to maybe get a community started and we can all correspond about hopes and any news.

This community is definitely not closed to just AD applying since I hope to see and work with everyone. Not to mention, I know there are some guys with great info out there on the subject.

Any info or posts on this would be great, and I apologize if this is too vague.

I'm excited to hear from everyone about their thoughts and positions. The wait's killing me. Since I completed my file in early August, I was told I wouldn't receive an LOA from admissions due to a complete file. (Hurry up and wait!)

God Bless,

Lofgren

Reservist here, but spent most of my Reserve time on active duty orders

Also finished and waiting, with the added bonus of working to get a waiver pushed through to DoDMERB.

Glad to meet you AirAssault.

Hopefully, we can get more people to read this thread and post! lol

I am a Reservist applying for the Class of 2016. I am currently deployed to Afghanistan (Nov 2010 - Nov 2011). Good to meet you all.

Yeah man. Got my acceptance letter emailed to me yesterday. FYI - I completed my file in mid-August 2011.

Are any of you NCO's or Combat Vets? I'm a Corporal.

Ima PFC about to get SPC no combat tho.... i think i got something from west point but i cant pick it up till later this week

Any AD soldiers applying to USMA should also apply for the Green to Gold Scholarship for ROTC. Don't put all your eggs in one basket !

Wow...

I feel like I only have verbal orders and they could be ripped from me at any moment... I just accepted my appointment on the portal.

I pray I get to see you all in the summer!

Truly, those of us who receive an appointment are blessed.

Congrats LofgrenCL!

Prior Enlisted Soldiers help to bring the Army closer to their fellow Cadets.

A win win for you and West Point. Good luck!

for the active duty guys...how long did it take to recieve your nomination after submitting your commanders endorsment? thats all i have left to do then i just hope i get accepted... thanks! an congrats!

Great thread !
Since the numbers of soldiers applying is such a small subset of all applicants, I'm glad the ones on here have found a way to share info, concerns and questions and in general just communicate with each other. :thumb:

West Point loves soldiers (or priors) in the Corps. You have maturity and experience that the average candidate coming out of high school doesn't have. You really add a dimension to the Corps that West Point values. Priors also tend to have the leadership positions within the Corps. Many of the First Captains are priors.

Minimum requirement: SAT greater than 1000 or 20 on the ACT.

Most soldiers do go through USMAPS first.

i finished everything today and emailed it all to the admissions lady now i just it an wait haha i hope i get picked up! but say if your test scores are not the minimum (i took the SAT today and dont know my score) what do you need to get into USMAPS?
