Results of the meeting with Ray LaHood yesterday. For all interested in the welfare of USMMA:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mr LaHood appeared in person on campus to speak with all concerned. He addressed the regiment, faculty, staff and Alumni.Lahood assured everyone that "Kings Point will be in existence long after we are gone. That means the USMMA is not folding.Lahood was adamant that no amount of pressure will reinstate Admiral Greene, so direct your efforts elsewhere. Lahood said that there will never be a reason announced why Phil Greene was fired. We will never know. He is telling the absolute legal truth here. If he disclosed in public any reason for Greene's firing, he could be sued for violation of privacy laws governing private personnel records. Lahood asked various groups for input into what we should be looking for in a new Superintendent. Various ideas were offered by the faculty and staffs of different academic departments, as well as the alumni. LaHood has asked the Parents and Alumni to be active participants in the selection process of the new Superintendent. Basic plans for that search have yet to be formalized so we don't know how that will happen.
The Alumni and Parents are continuing their orchestrated legislative action campaign .

... Lahood said that there will never be a reason announced why Phil Greene was fired. ...

Did he (LaHood) actually use the word "fired" or did he say reassigned even if he admitted it was not at Greene's request - there is a difference. Only asking because I suspect he was very careful in the choice of his words.

After the way Adm Greene was treated and with the knowledge of what has circulated around this and other forums, is there any hope of getting anyone to apply who truly has a forward looking vision for the school?

I truely hope so, but . . .

Jasperdog - the phrase came from an e-mail the Parents' Assn. chair sent out earlier today. She was not present at the meeting due to a prior commitment, and I received the e-mail third-hand, so I wouldn't take the language literally.
