Given that in 2011, President Obama has signed a repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" regarding the Military.....what is the current official position of The USMMA?.....for both applicants and current Mids.

I am only asking, knowing the institution is not a military academy, but the midshipman are in the Naval Reserve (or is it Navy - I always get that mixed up), and some do choose to go active duty.......

Little confused about the status of the repeal also, it appears there is not a timeline in place for the military to implement?

I would think that the "official" position of the Academy would be driven largely by the Dept. of Naval Science and would only apply to the Midshipmen. Everyone else is just another government employee of MARAD and DOT. Don't ask, Don't tell does not apply to them unless they are also members of a Reserve Component of the military.

I haven't been following the repeal process too closely but as I understand it, the military is still a little confused too.

Thought it was along those lines....and more than a little confusing.....also, a little dicey how to advise a prospective candidate.....policy may be one thing, when the practical reality is something a little different.

Your link is outdated, the change/repeal has already been implemented.

Is it more complicated than, Keep you pants up and your skirt down?

Yes it is complicated for those who want to come out while in the military. They want to make sure they are protected legally in their vocation and studies. Maybe it's not hard for the rest.

Sorry, not to make light. I think it would be horrible to not be able to be who you really are. That said, keep your pants up and your skirt down even after!

Predator is the issue, not homosexuality

This is an issue about predators. What is KP's stand on that issue and how do they handle employees that fit into that category?

The midshipmen and alumni should come forward if they have first hand experiences with unwanted sexual advances by any person on campus, especially if the advances are made by a superior. Students and alumni are the ones who can make a difference in what is done. Their testimonies are needed. The FBI has jurisdiction over KP, contact them. Everything will be kept confidential and quiet.

If the accusations are true, then let's clean the place up and start with a clean slate.

KP has great potential as the jewel of the world in the Merchant Marine.

Sealawyer:

Does KP have a problem with sexual predators? This is a rather disturbing post.

Kings Point Gay Club

I really thought that was what the KPRFC was..The personalities on this club are diverse, yet they are woven together brilliantly to create the violent symphony that is KPRFC. Undisputed Raw animals. This is our site, hear our cry and fear our wrath. Really?

I am going to leave that last sentence alone. . . .
