Just read the previous post. The OP stated their son just saw his status page change from "You have been selected for an interview" to "You have been selected for a 4 year scholarship"

To quote a much wiser person then me...."Let the Games Begin"

Good luck everyone

We all hope branching comes with it...my buddies are driving me crazy with their speculating haha

I know my son is anxiously waiting as well. After the past years of ROTC you'd think he was used to all the waiting.

Good luck to all 2016 candidates.

Off topic for a second, when you guys say "branching" does that mean they also get their RNLT date and base assignment at the same time, or just the branch?

I believe they just receive their Branch assignment, they won't get their dates to report to BOLC for a while yet.

Fingers crossed and prayers for your DS and family as the waiting has just got to be horrible.

Good luck 2016 - will check back later to see if the forum "LIGHTS UP", hopefully with amazing news for many of you:thumb:

Ohio, you are correct it is horrible. When you get to this bridge, everything is amped up because now it is their career path, one that may be the largest building block in their life. You as a parent can not help at all, i.e. editing essays, work out partner, study partner etc. All you can do is sit silently on the side lines and pray.

Nobody read into it that I am saying college/scholarship isn't OMG anxiety, because for you right now it is. So please no :guns4:

I am saying that even at the college/scholarship point, they have the ability to back out and not owe time. These kids will have to serve out their commitment, and that commitment will be their foundation for when they finally hang up their dog tags and enter the "real world", be it in 4, 14 or 24 yrs.

College is 30 weeks a yr, not 8-4 M-F. AD life is 52 and more than 8-4 M-F.

I will be surprised if this thread lights up alot. I would assume it will remain alive, but the majority of 16 candidates will most likely find out starting the next board.

I can't recall if it was Marist or Clarkson who explained the 1st board process over the summer.

Basically, the 1st board is where they get an idea of the base line for college BNs (paraphrasing). They are sim to the SA process, where they know historically without a doubt that this kid will get a scholarship even if the budget is chopped by 75%. Think LOA for an SA.

This does not mean they don't want your child. It means that they want a larger pool before they decide where to offer your child a scholarship, or in some cases not offer a scholarship.

There will be MANY, MANY, MANY, kids that are strong candidates that will not be offered a scholarship right out of the gate.

Do NOT assume because you don't get offered at the 1st board, you are weaker in their eyes. Do NOT assume because you were picked up on the 1st board you are the "best". Once in ROTC they couldn't care at all if you are scholarship or not. The slate is wiped clean. It is how you perform there that will make or break you. The command and the cadets do now discuss which cadet is scholarship/non-scholarship when it comes to performance.

It is also why I agreed with Ohio regarding her comment about the waiting game for MSIVs.

Again, congrats to all of you that are awarded the scholarship from this board. REJOICE!

To those that were not picked up, keep moving forward, it is not the time to start saying Oh SHEAAT!

NEW: SCHOLARSHIP OFFERS FROM THE OCTOBER BOARD

Here is part of an email I received today, so when those ROOs start calling making you crazy offers tell them it's not official till you get the letter.

"Offers from the October board will start populating in CCIMS next week.
As offers are posted in CCIMS, schools will not inform applicants whether they received a scholarship offer to their school. Offers are subject to change until the notification letters are mailed. Applicants learn they are scholarship winners when they receive an offer letter signed by the CG, not before."

I intend to ask for a hard date when the letters are mailed, and then give my applicants a heads up. No hard sell from Clarksonarmy, just the information needed to make an informed decision...good luck to all!!!

Will the Status Page change before the letters are sent out, I only ask because of a post to this board yesteday by someone saying their son's status had changed.

My status just changed online and informed me that I received the scholarship to 3 different schools: Iowa State, TCU and The Citadel. So althought my #1 (VMI) didnt offer, does this exclude ALL opportunity to still be offered at VMI?

Yea! Congrats on the offers. I know you wanted VMI, but looks like you've got a ticket out of "Dodge City". No word here.

Appreciate it Solon! And not so much a ticket of out Dodge, as much as it is just a beginning to what im passionate about getting into.

The only option you have is to try and transfer the scholarship to VMI, that is not an easy thing to do these days. There have been many posts on this board that talk about tranfers and how they are getting harder. The best thing you can do is contact VMI and ask them what the chances are in getting a transfer.

To give a simple answer, Yes, this means that a scholarship will not be offered to VMI, CC has given you the scholarship to 3 schools and they won't be adding any more schools to that list.

Congratulations on the scholarship and good luck.

Just a note to all the other applicants, make sure you are willing to attend any of the schools you place on your list. ROTC will be focusing a lot on in state and public schools this year. Don't put schools on your list thinking that you can easily transfer to a different school. The odds of that happening this year are slim.

info from goarmy site

Just checked S info on same site and it shows schools highlighted in blue. Does not say how many years. Congrats. to you!!! let us know about transfer progress.
