Waiver for hearing issue for non combat role

DS has a high frequency hearing lossand and uses hearing aides, he wants to serve as a nurse in the military, hearing is 100% corrected by his hearing aides. He will be doing ROTC in the spring, what will it require for him to obtain a waiver to be commissioned as an officer

Short answer: yes. If his hearing is poor enough to need hearing aids it is likely he will fall outside the standards for commissioning (which aren't too strict) and therefore need a waiver. Doesn't matter what you are commissioning for in regards to the need for a waiver, it is simply easier to get a waiver when dealing with certain communities.
