Congrats to you and your DS.:thumb: I guess you get to start the 2016 appointment thread.

By the way, for those that are interested I-Day is June 28th, 2012.

Congratulations! I can't believe that the offers of appointments are already sent! I would have thought they would be sent near the end of November at the earliest. Because your DS was a recruited athlete, did he find out earlier about his acceptance to USAFA? I think the term is a "blue-chip" athlete. Please correct me if I'm mistaken.

LOA's are sent out starting in October, my daughter recieved hers last Oct. BFE came in January if I remember correctly.

The USAFA swim coach let him know by email about a week ago that he had been accepted for appointment. Being a military family, however until we had the hard copies we withheld our excitement. Unless you have it on paper, things can always change. DS already had his Presidential nomination, hence the appointment already instead of an LOA. The coaches did throw around the "Blue Chip" status, but it has been more than six months since anyone said anything about that. In fact the last visit we had with the coaching staff, DS was certainly not high on their radar. So we were very surprised when we got the email last week.

Your experience sounds like what we are going through now. We had a flurry of correspondence from the coaches a few months ago telling him to be sure and finish his application early. In one letter they asked if he would verbally commit before NLI day. Haven't heard from the coaches since. I hope our situation turns out as good as yours.

I met with Coach Clayton and Asst. Coach Boettcher and they seem like great coaches, and are very friendly!

Tell your DS, congratulations. Tell him thanks for his willingness to defend our freedom.

God Bless and God Speed,

RGK

He prefers Free and Fly, but has decent I.M. times too. Best event hands down is the 200 Free.

Thank you all for the congrats! DS is over the moon. Takes a huge weight off his shoulders. Now we just have to keep him safe until June 27th. As recommended, we also have a plan B just in case. Working on plan C too.

Plan B rolls along for us as well - Auburn Engineering admitted the Kid on Friday, it's a tough call for him, he's a BIG War Eagle fan... Hey, life is all about tough choices isn't it!!!?
