For all those coming to the Air Force vs Army game this Saturday at Falcon Stadium, you are Cordially invited to "THUDGATE". Thudgate is the largest private tailgate west of the Mississippi. It is military retirees, active duty, cadets, parents, and all other supporters. We also invite the opposing team. If you're interested in coming, you are definitely invited. Bring anything you want, if it's convenient, but at least bring yourself. We have all the food and drink you could want. Including an open bar. And about an hour before kickoff, as we wind down the tailgate, we make a toast with some good old fashioned "Jeremiah Weed". We toast those are serving, who have served, and those no longer with us.

Thudgate was named after one of the founders of Thudgate. "Another Mike". His father was an F105 pilot (The F-105 was nicknamed the THUD). His father was on active duty when he lost his life in a plane. He was also INSTRUMENTAL in the Development of the Commanders in Chief's Trophy. Please come on out and lets have some fun. All are invited. If you find the really big WHITE TENT outside the stadium on the EAST SIDE.... "THAT'S NOT US" LOL!!! But we are right behind it. You'll know, because there will be a very large RV and a lot of people there. We're right where the dirt parking lot meets the asphalt handcapped parking. Can't miss it. See you there. Mike....

Well, hopefully my husband can stop by after his Army tailgate and say hi again (we met you at PW the last two years). You'll recognize him by his cool parka! :thumb:

First aircraft I ever controlled by myself as a Baby ROMAD at my first TASS squadron in the late 70's was one of the last Reserve Thuds - on Poinsett Range at SAFB... Ahh memories...

Sorry - Off Topic

Another great thudgate; and it was great to see so many of you again. Some for the first time. Hope you enjoyed yourselves. Definitely a great turnout. I think at one time, we had a count of about 200 people there. With some coming and going, I wouldn't be surprised if there were more. And of course, it was especially nice being we won the CIC trophy again. And it gets to stay in colorado springs where it belongs.

I appreciate everyone joining us for our toast prior to the game. I, as well as many others, are very passionate about football. But at the end of the day, it is just a game. I was thankful that those of you who were there, were able to join us as we honored thosewho served before us; our cadets; those serving currently; and those no longer with us. All services. Because when everything is put into perspective, they are the reason, not the football game.

thanks

We had a great time, great food, great drink, and felt very welcomed. Thanks for the hospitality! We enjoyed a great game (well, great 2nd half), and seeing all kinds of weather over a 5 hour period, getting a little misty during the toasts, and seeing some (now) old friends and meeting new friends. Can't wait until the next time.

Hey all!

First, CC and MikeandChris...GREAT to both see you again and to meet you!!!

I wish I could have stayed for the Weed toast...but I was just too "scheduled" and the "rain/sleet/hail" didn't help!

BUT...folks...if you can make the NEXT game...drop into Thudgate!!! I have had the great pleasure of attending several times and met CC and then "get back" with him...and many others! And yesterday I was fortunate enough to meet MikeandChris! It's SO much fun to be able to put faces to names!!! :thumb:

And then...I had the great pleasure of meeting one of the "young candidates" from about 18 months ago that I had the great pleasure of "advising" from afar...the daughter of a classmate of mine from USAFA. She was JUST LIKE SO MANY OF YOU here...unsure, seeking knowledge, etc...etc...and she listened to all that answered her questions.

And in the end, she prevailed!!! And it was SO FUN to finally meet her yesterday!!! :yay:
(And yes, for those wanting to know, she looked really good in her ACU's!)

And my classmate was there and besides looking JUST like he did when we graduated...ah...well, a few years ago...he was wearing his cadet parka!!!
(I wish I could still :frown: )

Oh yeah..USAFA beat USMA! :yay: That was a good "rest of the story" for a wonderful day!!
