My son, who was fortunate enough to receive a 4 year AROTC scholarship from the first board, has now sent the acceptace letter back with his school choice noted. He e-mailed it, faxed it and sent it registered mail (hope he doesn't confuse them). Will he receive a confirmation from CC that they received and processed his acceptance?

The only thing I remember for DS is that his status changed on CC's apllication system a couple of weeks after he sent his acceptance letter to basically say that he had accepted his scholarship and the name of the school.

OK we will watch for the status change on his portal. Thanks.

I would also contact the cadre of the battalion you chose. Sure, they will get the notice also, but the personal touch helps.

Especially if the school has a competitive admission scene, "recruiting" the battalion cadre (PMS or a recruiting officer) as an inside advocate is very helpful. Not in all, but in many colleges, the battalion officers have a good relationship with the admissions officers, and they can be your advocate. Every bit helps.

In my son's case, I believe this helped a lot.

Congrats!

educateme, Thanks for the advice. He has already been accepted so the admissions help isn't needed at this point but it would probably still be a good idea for him to touch bases with them and make sure they know he has accepted the scholarship. We just want to make sure all the i's are dotted and nothing gets lost in the shuffle.

wow,

your son is in a VERY ENVIABLE position. Congrats!!!!! I am sure he richly deserves it. The rest of his senior year will be pure joy!

My son was also fortunate to be in that position but not until Dec when the early decision results came out.

Best to your son and your family, Huray!!!!!

Packer,
I know I'm stating the obvious and preaching to the choir, etc... but don't let DS slack off with senioritis now that he has all the college stuff locked up and he needs to stay in excellent shape for orientation. Congrats to you both! :thumb:t

He already thinks I am a drill sergeant! There will be no slacking off.:shake:

He is also an academy applicant and that is far from locked up so he is still pretty motivated without me pushing him.

He is in a very good position and if nothing else comes his way he still has a great opportunity. Very blessed.

Son's status page changed today to show that he accepted the offer.

That's great, now he can take a big sigh of relief......for about a day or so, then back to push ups and sit ups.

I loved your comment about your son thinking your already a drill sergeant. I remember last year when my son was at the place your son is now. Even though he always said he was working out he got real tired of the daily question....did you do your PU's and SU's, running was never an issue. I got the "Eye Roll" a lot.

I actually just got off the phone with him, he told me that one of the other scholarship cadets that had not passed his APFT was being re-evaluated for his scholarship, This poor young man did not pass the first 2 APFT's and then he broke his ankle and has been unable to participate in most activities including PT, another reason to pass the test early. The only other scholarship cadet has left the program, never passed his test either. I remember the first day of orientation when they gave the new cadets the APFT, after the test my son looked at me and said thanks for pushing me that little extra over the summer, he got a 280 on his first APFT.

So continue being that drill sergeant, he'll thank you for it.

Congratulations to your son.

Orientation is soooo much easier when you are physically ready for it. DS is among the top in his battalion physically thanks to all the work he did over the summer. Now he can't seem to get enough PT. He just eats it up... Unlike his couch potato Dad.
