We would like to register for summer seminar 2012 when it opens on Dec 1st, but we don't have my son's PSAT results back yet. Can we register or do we have to wait until his high school gets them back.

I've heard that the SS doesn't open up until some time in January. I'm sure you'll be getting the PSAT results back by then.

Applications open December 1 with rolling admissions. Get it done early if you can. PSAT scores should be released by then.

Good Luck. :thumb:

PSAT

Our highschool does not give out our PSAT scores until after Christmas break. I have ACT scores but I'm not sure the are high enough for SS.

I didn't have my PSAT scores when I applied so I submitted my ACT scores which was a 24 and then updated it when my PSAT scores came in and I got accepted.

swewe,

See the response from btosm14. Your son will have a great time. I would also apply to NASS (Naval Academy) and SLS (West Point), as well. Also, have him do Boys State.

Good luck,

RGK

For those lurking with sophomores or freshman. I have always had my kids take the PSAT twice. First time their sophomore year, then again there junior year. It gives them a practice test before it really counts. Yes, invariably the scores go up their junior year, but the other benefit is that for programs that require PSAT scores, you at least have some. They can always be updated. It also helps when they are trying for the National Merit Scholarship their junior year, as it is not a surprise as to what is on the test (PSAT). It did help with the SS application at USAFA last year as we were able to fill it out right away. My son loved attending, got to spend time after with his sister who was a C4C, and is now a 2016 appointee. :shake:

At our school district Academy Night they discussed this and mentioned that often the school counselors have the PSAT scores long before they actually return them to students. Their suggestion was to let your counselor know you will need these for your SS application to find out if it's possible to get them a bit earlier.

Excellent post. Boys State is a real gem on your application. :thumb:

Can anyone let me know what the PSAT scores have been of those accepted to summer session.

Thank You

You can put everything else in and update that later. I only put SAT scores in, because we haven't gotten PSAT's back yet either.
