What are my chances of getting an appointment if I receive a principal nomination?

Lancemiller,
If you are fully qualified (Medical/DoDMERB, Physcially(CFA) and Academically), and you earn a Principal Nom, it would mean you earn the MOC Vacancy Winner = should receieve an appointment (I am not an expert, but just not sure with USAFA if there are any other specific requirements).

I just went through same process for USMA:

Oct. 28: Letter from USMA Admissions indicating Fully Qualified
Nov. 4: Interview with Senator
Nov. 8: Senator called and said I was Principal Nominee
Nov. 16: Senator called and said I was offiically being offered an Appointment for USMA Class of 2016!

Good luck!:thumb:

Thanks, I appreciate it, I was pretty confident that was the case. I just wanted to hear it.

Have you investigated to see if your MOC does principal? Principal is the minority regarding the options for nominating available to the MOCs, only about 30% of the MOC's implement this opportunity. The majority use competitive = WCS and let the SA determine who will be charged.

As other's have stated if you are 3'Q and selected to be principal, regardless of your WCS, the AFA will offer an apptmt.

I am just trying to inform you that not every MOC will submit a slate with a principal. I would not assume that it is common, unless the MOC has stated it to be their method.

Good luck.

P.S. Just because LY they did competitive submission, doesn't not mean they will not do principal this yr. Just because LY they did principal also does not equate to they will not use competitive TY.

It is their option to change every yr.
