1) when applying online you have to enter your name, dob, social security #...ect, can i enter my info in to see what the application process is like or do i have to complete once i start???

2) do i need anything from my HS counselor to do the online application or is it just basic stuff???

3) i have realized that my application is due around January 12th.....but my GPA, class rank, final grades..ect.. wont be available until the end of my 1st semester(late December) so it will be hard to get my application in such little time, can i submit my application then add to it later

PLEASE HELP!!!
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

The application process is a multiple step process. You should be able to start, save, then restart.

Someone from your school has to verify your activities, usually you counselor.

If you don't have a nomination, the best you can hope for is a considering for prep school.

@MemberLG - I'm pretty sure he/she is a current junior looking to start the application for 2017.

I'm not sure where you got the information it was due January 12th - our information is that it won't open until January 10th for 2017. But yes, you can always save and update various times until the application is complete.

^^^ Assuming its correct, that's when you can START the application. You'll have plenty of time to complete it. I doubt SLS will require you to complete the application in order to attend.

1) I don't know what your aiming at, "seeing what its like", but I wouldn't recommend doing something that could potentially mess you up later on. For instance, putting your info down to "see what its like" and then closing out from your portal, forgetting your CID and password, and then not being able to create another portal login from your same info.

2) Yes, you need transcripts. 6 total to initially "complete" your application, then you need to send in your transcripts from 1st semester of your senior year ASAP. Also, you need your counselor or principal to confirm your CAR (candidate activities record).

3) You send in all "follow up" transcripts after you complete the application. Look at the people who received LOA's and Nom's already, they don't have their first semester grades, but they are expected to send them in ASAP. Their file was deemed complete though, because they sent in the required 6 transcripts from their high school.

Hope some of this helps you. Best of luck!

I'm not sure what you're saying here - the link leads to the info I posted (and a link to the WP site) - all of which show that the application opens on January 10th. Nothing about being due by January 12th.

also, when do i have to take the physical tests?

Unless things are changing drastically, you won't take either the CFA (physical fitness test) or Dodmerb (medical exam) until later in the process. You will take a real CFA if you do attend SLS so it is good to be prepared to take it there, but you can take one any time until the application closes next February (2013 for the class of 2017). Also, you probably won't get permission to do Dodmerb until sometime over the summer. The SLS application in the past has been totally self-reported but with the new requirement of having to open your USMA application first, we're not sure how exactly it will play out or how much will be required officially. My guess is that you'll still report everything yourself (ACT scores, grades, activities) for SLS consideration but then provide verification for the official application later in the process, but I really don't know.
