Hello everyone! I just thought I'd formally introduce myself since I just popped up out of nowhere and started posting about a month ago. I'm currently a candidate for USAFA class of 2016, and I must say it's been quite an exciting journey so far! Let me tell you all a little bit about myself.
I honestly didn't know service academies existed until July 2011, just before my senior year started. I actually started the application process on the 25th of July. Talk about little time to get a lot done! I'm now DoDMERB qualified, I've got a nomination, all I have left is the CFA and my essays to write, one of which is done; the other is still in drafting stages. (Thanks to howsacupcake for proofreading my essay for me )
I think the most enjoyable part about this whole process has been the people I've met while at interviews for nominations. The first interview panel I faced scared me to death, but I think it had something to do with it being my first time. The other two interviews were actually really enjoyable experiences, and I got to meet some really cool people, both candidates and panel members. I have an awesome ALO too! I think it'd be cool to be an ALO or panel member for a congressman some day.
I wish you all luck at getting into your academy of choice! Hopefully I'll get to meet some of you fine people some day if I am honored with an appointment to USAFA. I wince at the thought of how many pushups I'll be doing at AF vs. Navy games come doolie year though.
