Hello to the Future USAFA Class of 2017!
I just wanted to publicly announce that tomorrow, the USAFA Summer Seminar application will open! I wouldn't expect it to be out on midnight, but rather, throughout the course of tomorrow! I'm sure many of you are as excited as me about applying! Best of luck, and I look forward to meeting many of you!
I would like to request already, before the application opens, that accepted juniors post their acceptance on the forum! Just like the regular USAFA "Accepted" commotion! Therefore, we can start preparing (as a team) and communicating for the seminar!
I do have a question for any veterans/parents/Air Force officers/cadets. When is the earliest admission board meet? When would be the earliest time to submit the application to catch the first board? Were any of you veterans notified within December-January? How does the admissions process work (time-line wise). I'd appreciate any help!

The application link is here! Once again, I can't wait to get to know the future cadets of the USAFA Class of 2017!

Hi. :) Let me see if I can answer a few of those questions, and quell some worries.

I applied and attended USAFA summer seminar this year (June) and I am applying to the academy for the class of 2016.

The summer seminar application actually is posted at 12 am Mountain time. It is very simple, and all self reported information. If you have a resume sheet, it will take less than 15 minutes to complete.

Some submitted their application at midnight December 1st, and heard back in a week. Others submitted at midnight December 1st, and heard back in March. The admissions is rolling, yet there is no assigned board dates available (to us anyways). you will be able to check your status via the online portal that you applied through.

So do not worry about when the acceptance will come, apply...and take your time with the application to make sure everything is correct. You may do an one the phone interview with your ALO (I did, but it is not required)

Regarding the Summer seminar itself: amazing. I loved how busy we were, the workshops, and physical training. Make sure that you keep fit too! even if you do not attend summer seminar, the CFA is coming up for you.

Hope I answered everything, and please pm me if you need any help or have any questions. good luck to everyone!

The day that I have been waiting for since the beginning of my 7th grade year will be here in only a couple hours.

Application complete! 0800 this morning.
Does anyone know what percentage heard within a week?
And do you only get to ask for a session (A, B, or C) once you are selected, because there was no spot for that on the application, and I am trying to coordinate it so I can go to West Point's Summer Leaders Seminar as well?

Nice man! What did you do, plan your whole resume/essay out before hand? No school or something?

Unfortunately you can only choose the session AFTER they've made you the offer, just think the beginning, middle and end of Jun as basically coinciding with the sessions. My son chose "B" and I think he went on 11 June.

Good Luck!

When you are invited to Summer Seminar, it will be through the email address that you provided. Our DS almost missed the acceptance date due to the fact that the email had filtered into his spam folder. He was given a choice of A, B, or C session. He attended the C session.

Haha, no. I homeschool. And I'm a girl. My dad and I made a resume a couple of weeks ago, so pretty much everything needed was on hand. Made it really easy to fill out :)

Good luck and hope you get in!

Thanks for that bit about the spam folder, I'll remember to check it more often now!

As far as when admissions boards meet, the earliest I've heard of people getting their appointment is october, but typically those people had a presidential nomination and were very very strong candidates.

From then on the admissions trickle in (usually as LOAs), but the majority of appointees won't hear anything at all until march.

I remember being in your position 2 years back, one piece of advice I have is get your application done asap (this goes for nominations as well). One you've completed absolutely everything, start applying for other colleges. Settle in, and enjoy your senior year.

My apologies :O! I am terribly sorry! My mistake! Ah, great idea! You be sure and let me know when they get back to you! I'm almost positive, with your level of determination, that you'll make it in!

No problem!
Which session do you want to go to? I will hopefully be at session B.

And just to make sure I am not doing something wrong, does everyone's status say 'Application submitted (your application has not yet been processed by USAFA)'?

Yes, this is normal. If you fill out an application for the class of 2017, you will see this frequently. I am pretty sure that with in a couple of days to at most a week it will be updated and processed. Good Luck:thumb:

I'm not sure yet! I have already secured a Boy's State Application as well as the support of my high school. I also am in the process of applying to an academic program at MIT. I am pretty nervous on the coordination of all these events! I might take the earliest Session (if I get accepted), so I can hopefully squeeze in MIT and Boy's State, but, we'll see! I'm going to be creating a good summer calender this weekend! Thanks for the best wishes! If we both get in and make it to Session B, I'd love to meet you!

Yeah, I am relying on being able to get the session I want if I get in, because I have WAY too much scheduled for next summer already. I think I have two weeks right before school starts in August that aren't full already!
