Any Firstie parents want to share about how Branch Night went for their cadet last night?

Not a Firstee parent, but DS is a plebe and was pumped to get to pin a Fristee from his company, costs him a COR in his file but he said its was worth it.

Ditto here! Here's my plebe's text message from last night: "Just blood pinned three firsties"

I didn't know they got in trouble for that, TerryS.

It's been largely vilified in the Army as being unprofessional and wrong.

That being said, when I was the AASLT DHG, like my platoon sergeant before me, he made sure to pound the wings into my chest. In front of the platoon.

Every year they tell us not to Blood Pin. Then we all do it. That way we can at least say it was wrong but carry on the tradition anyway :shake:

Hawk, I understand that the acronym "COR" stands for "Cadet Observation Report", which is a summary report for observed cadet conduct that can be either positive or negative (it is usually negative).

Thanks! I guess that corresponds with "None Observed" in the assessment for the military grades.

sweettooth -- your '11 percentages only add up to a little over 90... how is that? I know it can't be pernovage :)

Can someone tell me what "Blood Pinning" means?

Remove the backings or "dammits" (or "frogs" if you're weird) from the pins on branch insignia. Place insignia on shirt carefully. Have someone punch the insignia, thus thrusting the sharp pins into your chest.

Lather, rinse, repeat. It's a great way to prove the folly of youth and verify whether your tetanus booster worked or not.

The thing I have always found interesting about underclassman blood pinning firsties on branch night is that in the Army only someone who has already earned that particular badge gets the opportunity to blood pin you...

Cadets do a lot of stuff that Army people just shake our heads at...

True scoutpilot, though I have attended several airborne and air assault blood pinnings, and shaken my head at every one...
