My DS just just got Senator Dick Durbin's (IL) nom in the mail! Because of his LOA and being otherwise 3Q'd, I think that means the appointment should be in the mail in a couple weeks! Thanks to the moderators and contributors to this site. It's been invaluable!

THAT is exciting!!! Nice going! Now, don't let him waste the opportunity of his young lifetime! Congrats to both Plebe-to-be and his Plebe-to-be parents!:thumb:

Congrats! Can you refresh my memory about his stats/ECs? We live in IL too. Did he tell Durbin's office that he had a LOA?

No LOA for our DS but we did just learn that he is 3Q'd (we didn't know that when he submitted his nom packages to the MOC last month). He informed our Congressman (7th district) but hadn't yet informed the Senators. Is it worth it to do that (altho it sounds like it is too late with Durbin at least)? Advice from any/all on that front appreciated too.

Thanks.

Thanks.

He has an unweighted 3.85. All AP and Honors: 4 English; 2 Physics; 2 Chemistry; 1 Biology; 5 math (including Calculus); 4 Spanish; 4 History; various electives. I think the 4 years of Chem and Physics (each an honors followed by AP, all As) really helped, as well as Calc (although he received a B and an A each semester in Pre-calc and then Calc). No class rank at his school.

His ACT was a 34 English, 33 math. He took it three times, and he's glad he did. His 34 in English was his 3rd time taking it.

ECAs: 4 years football (captain), swimming and baseball (captain) or track; lifeguard in summer; church lector; NHS tutoring and a smattering of other service and volunteer work each year.

I really can't say whether there is any point to letting them know if you're 3Q'd, especially at this stage of the game. Durbin's letter are obviously out, and I believe Kirk's will be before Christmas. He did mail Durbin's office a copy of the LOA as soon as he received it.
