AROTC Scholarship Transfers- 2011

I'm reluctant to talk to my cadre about it, because I don't want to bring it up before I've got all my ducks in a row, but I'm thinking of transferring to a more expensive school come fall. The issue is, I can only afford it if my 4 year scholarship transfers with me. So, Marist, clarksonarmy, assorted high-speeders, any idea what my chances are?

Probably not going to happen. You can transfer, and if by some chance your new school has a scholarship allocation that they aren't using, that they are willing to give to you then you'll still be on scholarship. If you are transferring out of your current Brigade, it will be even tougher. Your best bet is to be honest with your current Battalion, and also see what the potential gaining Battalion has to offer. But the odds are heavily against you. Prepare for all the pundits on the discussion board to delve into your motivation and thought process regarding this plan. I'm not going to make any judgements, just tell you that in the current fiscal climate, scholarship transfers aren't happening.

Ok, so should I contact the transfer school asap, or only once my transfer application is accepted?

Thankfully, I'm not.

Your best bet is to be honest with your current Battalion, and also see what the potential gaining Battalion has to offer. But the odds are heavily against you.

Seems to be pretty common on here, huh. Sure is nice when someone just answers the question.

Probably not going to happen but worth a shot. My school is around 45kish and I have heard of people trying to to transfer from the local state schools.Since I have been at my school (4 years) they have all been denied. Congrats on the scholarship.

The chances are extremely unlikely. I strongly advise against making the attempt. Instead devote the hours to researching private scholarships. You would have a better chance of getting the $ you need that way.
