I was hoping we could start a thread of all scholarship recipients with branch- type of scholarship and school... Please add to the list as scholarships come in!
Good luck to all!

Stephanie I would double check that any major part, AFROTC offers either Tech or non-tech, and they are sticklers about that. If they awarded it as a tech major you must be in a tech major or ask permission to switch to a non-tech, and vise a verse. Going from non-tech to tech is pretty easy, but tech to non-tech can be IFFY.

Packer, I have a question about receiving multiple scholarships. Can you accept both the Army and Air Force ROTC scholarships or do you have to pick one?

You can accept both and then at a later date you will confirm which one you are going to use and release the rest. I think the confirmation is in May. So if you really haven't made up your mind yet, or don't know which schools you are going to get in to you can accept multiples and then release ones you are not going to use as you make your decisions.

Congrats pv123,
You have the only AFROTC Type 1 scholarship offer I have seen on this forum so far coming from the first board, and any major to boot! What a great accomplishment, you must have out of the ball park stats? Everyone including myself were reporting receiving Type 7's until your post. Glad to see they did in fact hand some out, I just feel fortunate to get the Type 7 in the face of all the reported budget cuts.

Congrats pv123, non-tech type 1 is amazing. If you do the math, only 5% of scholarships are type 1. Only 5% of type 1 are non-tech. In other words if 10K scholarships were awarded, (which we all know isn't the real number), 500 go to Type 1. Out of that 500, only 25 are non-tech.

I am sure you will be a candidate that will not only have Type 1, but also major merit money from the schools you applied to for admittance.

Congrats, what an accomplishment. I know when our DS was in your shoes 4 yrs ago we were naive about the importance of a Type 1, I just wanted to illustrate how big of a deal it is in pure numbers.

That being said come Sept., the det won't care left or right if you have a scholarship or not, you will all enter with a clean slate, just like you did in 9th grade for HS. It will all be up to you all over again to prove you are the best and deserve to be in the AFROTC program. The number 1 cadet at DS's det is a non-scholarship, non-tech major with a UPT slot. Just putting that out there to remind everyone scholarships are great, but if you do not receive one, it does not and will not mean you are behind the 8 ball before you even stepped foot on campus.

Any idea how many AFROTC scholarships are available? I have seen the number 900 for this year but not from an official source so I dont know if it is accurate or even close. If it is 900 there would only be 2-3 type 1 non-tech scholarships available.
