DS just received a letter that I can only describe as a Falcon LOA. It is from Col. Benyshek, Director of Admissions and in part says:

"Congratulations! I would like to inform you that based upon your status as a Falcon Foundation School student, I plan to recommend you to the Academy Board for appointment to the Class of 2016. This letter serves as my commitment to recommend you to the Academy Board for an appointment if you meet all admissions requirements. The Academy Board must approve my recommendation and it is contingent upon satisfactory completion of your Falcon Foundation School program."

Now check me on this as we have never had the pleasure to see a LOA, but isn't this a LOA? Maybe not the traditional LOA but a Falcon specific LOA.

Another interesting thing about the letter is that it was forwarded from his MOC. Even though it is addressed to him, he has not received the original yet. My guess is that it was sent to all his MOCs to encourage them to nominate him. We are just thankful that the MOC was thoughtful enough to forward it on after the MOC also gave him a nomination.

What a great Christmas present!

The letter my DD received reads;
"Congratulations! The Academy Board has approved you for admission to the USAFA Class of 2016. You are virtually assured of an appointment upon receipt of a nomination."
I think the key word in the opening paragraph is "assured." Maybe it is different wording because she isn't a scholarship recipient.
Congratulations!

Congrats to your DS! Way to go! Hope NWP was great and you guys are enjoying what will be a very fast Spring semester... Enjoy every minute. :shake:

Thanks for the congrats.

To date DS has not received a copy of the letter from USAFA. The copy he has was forwarded by a staffer at his MOC's office. So I continue to believe that the sole purpose of the letter was to notify his MOC selection committees that he is a Falcon and is a preferred candidate in the eyes of USAFA. If true, then it would make sense that all qualified Falcons would have had one sent to their MOC. But this is the government so who knows?

Congrats. Feels good doesn't it? DS finally received the original of his letter on Saturday. It was dated January 3 even though his MOC had received the same letter minus the date at his local office on December 19. Enjoy the rest of your time at NMMI and excel!

My son got his letter when he checked his mail box at NMMI today. Hopefully we will get the appointment notice in early March as in years past. We've all come a long way since last April with the QNV letter. Congratulations to all of the Falcons!

For Falcons last year we starting hearing beginning of FEB and I believe was dependent on your Nomination status. Best of Luck guys!
