Hello!

This is my first post on this forum. It contains a ton of helpful information. Thank you!

My question is in regards to the notification of appointments. Are all BFE's containing appointments preceded by a phone call from admissions or is this for select/random applicants?

Thanks again.

Welcome to the forum. Excellent question that I also would like to know the answer to since several people have mentioned that they received calls.

This is also my first post to the forum.

My daughter received a call from a coach (not the admissions office) and then received the conditional appointment letter a week or so later.

Admissions Committee convenes every other Thursday/Friday to review appointment recommendations (CGAS and 2016) from the CCEB. When the decisions are finalized, we give the list of appointees to the athletic coaches, Director of Cadet Bands, Admissions Officers, etc. and many of them choose to call and share the good news.

If the applicant is being recruited for a particular sport, the Admissions Officer should let the coach make the call.

I talked to my Admissions Officer a week before I got my BFE. He didn't outright say that I had gotten in, but he hinted at it (I talked to him afterwards and he said that it wasn't quite official yet when I had previously talked to him).

Not sure if that helps or not....

I have been to campus for several events this fall and had been in contact with both the Baseball and Football Coaches. I received a call from the Baseball Coach on Monday, informing me of my Scholars Appointment.

DD found out today that she has an appointment to the Coast Guard Academy via a call from her Admissions Officer.

Congratulations! :groupwave:

I'm glad that everything worked out! In my case, I sent in my application after the Early Action deadline; however, I received mail from CGA stating that I was put into Early Action. At least I get to know before January 20th :thumb:

Hope all goes well for you Connie. My daughter just applied and we are going up to visit the CGA for a couple of days next week. So keep us all posted!

Last year DD did not receive a phone call...so don't stop the mailman stalking!

I'll make sure to keep that in mind as I anxiously wait for the results. Even though it's already January 5th, January 20th seems VERY far away. A question to the appointees to CGA, was there a notification on your CGA application that determined your status? Because as of right now, my CGA homepage appears to be the exact same when I submitted my application.

My 4/c did not receive a call. BFE came at the last minute. I expect that you will become well acquainted with your letter carrier. Good luck .

There was no change in my DD's account when she received her appointment. The only way you will find out is via phone call or mail.

She did get the BFE within a week of the phone call. The BFE was too big for the mailbox. So think of places that the mailman might leave it and remember to check those places.

Also a few days after receiving the BFE, she did get an e-mail from the Admissions office to join the facebook page for class of 2016.

I hope you hear something positive soon!

Lucky you..... My A.O. has been NO help whatsoever! Very disappointing and a bad reflection on the USCGA. However, I am still bound and determined to be a cadet, with or without his help!
