You need to get that GPA up man.. It's not too late, but even a 3.2 is low for TAMU standards. The average accepted applicant (50th percentile) has ~3.7. I was in a similar situation as you, but second semester my sophomore year, I turned it up and finished the year with a 3.8 and went on to make a 4.3 my junior year. I am now headed to TAMU on a NROTC Marine Option Scholarship.

You reallly need to bust it academically over the next year and a half.

Your ECs are good. Try your best to earn some varsity letters, and more leadership can never hurt if you are applying for the NROTC Scholarship (as long as it doesn't affect you academically. Take your SATs and ACTs early and often as well

@dkr626,

Do you know what outfit you are joining?
I've narrowed it down to E-2, C-2, P-2, and H-1. They all look like good fits for me, but it's hard to get a good feel for them online haha. I'm going to JCAP in February though so I should have a better idea then

Those are all good outfits.

Im actually a fish in P2 right now so feel free to PM me with any questions you have about P2 or the other outfits. I know a little bit about each of them and a whole lot about P2.

Thanks, I sent you a message! (as long as it went through, I'm not sure if it sent haha)

Im a highschool senior who recently was accpeted to A&M. I also applied for a NROTC scholarship, im still waiting for the decision. I agree with the statement above, you need to get the gpa up. I have a 3.7 and thats average. Take the SAT and ACT, I would try and take it at the end of your sophomore year, thats what I did, and it really helped. Good Luck! Also, I wish I new I wanted to do rotc when I was a sophomore like you, it wouldve helped a lot.

And for all sophmores, be sure to take the PSAT in October of your junior year. That's the test used to award National Merit scholarships and many school scholarships as well. Wish we had known that when DS was in high school.

@ajwilliams - bumping is not generally considered appropriate on this forum, nor on others (ie College Confidential). Nor is posting the exact same thing in multiple venues (yes, I've seen you on a bunch of the "big name" schools over there as well). Do some research on your own - read old threads, go to the specific school websites, and make some of your own decisions. Posting the same thing on multiple forums makes me wonder if you have any interest in what you want to do with your life - there's a huge difference between the Naval Academy and Harvard or Columbia. My gut instinct is that you're just trying to get someone to tell you that you can get into a big name school and don't really care that much about any one school (or even the military) as a whole. Bumping up approximately 20 threads with just the word "bump" is extremely annoying to those of us trying to get information or help others - take some of the initiative rather than just expecting everyone to tell you where you can get in (which they can't really do) and what you should do.
