Congressional Nomination and Letters of Recommendation

I received a letter from my congressman a few weeks before christmas saying "I am pleased to inform you that I have selected you for nomination to the United States Air Force Academy." I checked my nomination status online and my nomination status said "NONE." I thought that maybe the admissions office was backed up because of the holidays. It has almost been a month since I received this letter and my nomination status still says none. I am just wondering why the academy hasn't gotten my nomination yet. Any suggestions on what I should do? Should I call my admissions counselor, and if so when would the best time to do so be?

Also, when asking for additional recs (other than the 3 required), is there any specific way they should write it?

Thanks in advance. Sorry if the questions seem stupid. The end is near and I want to make sure everything is as perfect as possible.

You don't have to do anything as the academy takes care of it all. It usually takes a few weeks for the academy to update your page stating you received a nomination, so don't worry.

If you want to push it, you can scan a copy of the letter and send it to your counselor.

For security reasons I don't think the academy would accept such a high profile document simply being scanned and emailed to them. The best way to resolve this issue would be to contact your admissions counselor AND your nominating source to find out if your name was forwarded to the Academy. Like it was earlier said, I wouldn't be too pushy because they might have done so and admissions might be a little behind since we just got back from break. Maybe wait a few days or a week, and then call because you don't want to miss out on any review boards at this point. Congratulations on your nomination by the way and best of luck to you! :thumb:

My DD did it and the application posted the day after she sent it. Not sure if it was a coincidence of the MOC notification arriving or her doing, but it registered. It wasn't really a high profile document, just a one page form letter.
