Has anyone heard from Sen. Cardin's Office? DS did not receive a nom. from Sen. Mikulski. Sen. Cardin's interview was a month ago and he hasn't heard anything. He had his Rep interview this past weekend so I don't know if they are waiting to sort out the slates. DS is handling this so much better than his mom.

My DS is in the same position...Mikulski = No; Cardin = ?; Rep = ?. He sent an e-mail recently to Cardin's staff, but he did not receive a response. Some other candidates that he knows had similar experiences with Cardin's office (i.e., tried to contact them, but did not receive a response).

Probably won't hear anything from Cardin's office awhile. He plans to not to double nominate, which means he is planning to wait until all the Congressional nominations are done so he can nominate only kids without Congressional nomination. I have to double check, but I am only tracking a few MD Congressman's Office (MD 02 and MD 05) notifying applicants about nomination.

Do I think it's fair, no. But, it's his decision.

I've been wondering the same thing. Heard from Mikulski (senior Sen) but not from Sen Cardin or our Rep (MD-3). Glad we're not the only ones.

MemberLG mentioned that Maryland Congressional Districts 2 and 5 have notified applicants about nominations; however, has anyone heard from any other MD districts? We are in MD-06 and have not heard a word.

Funny - we just assumed that our Rep was waiting for Sen. Cardin to announce his nominations, but according to MemberLG it looks like it might be the other way around. I wonder if the Reps know that Sen. Cardin is waiting on them...

I'm MD-04 and got notification just today: a nomination, but not to my first choice, USNA. I realize that I am very fortunate to receive a nomination at all and that USNA in this area is by far more competitive, but I would still like to be considered by Sen. Cardin (got rejected by Sen. Mikulski).

Could I have advice on how to handle this? Would it be acceptable to contact Sen. Cardin's office and explain my situation (and would it be realistic to expect a positive response)? For that matter would it be acceptable to contact Rep. Edwards' office and request a reconsideration?

I was on Senator Cardin's USMA board. Joked with Senator Cardin's rep that if he coordinates with a Republican MOC also. He said yes

So far no one from MD 06 shows receiving a nomination for Congressman Bartlett yet.

What did you ask for from Senator Cardin His policy is you can ask for only one nomination. If you asked a nomination to USNA, you still have a chance as he won't double nominate (i.e. if someone got a USNA nomination from his or her MOC, he won't give USNA nomination).

I did put down USNA. The board did ask me during my interview if I applied to other service academies and to rank them which I noticed they wrote down - does this have bearing on anything?

At any rate, thanks for the reassurance. Not much, but still good to know I'm still in the running!

LOA received

DD is a Falcon Scholar at prep school. Last yr received a nom from Dist 05 Hoyer. This yr rcvd nom from Sen. Mikulski. Dist 05 said since she rcvd from Mik he was unable to do so. I wasn't aware that they talked to each other but makes sense so more kids can get noms. Have not heard from Cardin's ofc. Two days ago got a LOA from Dir of Admissions at AFA! One step closer!

Our daughter received a nomination from Sen. Mikulski in November, and was notified on December 29 that she's on the NWL, so someone else got the Mikulski slot. She just heard that she received the Sarbanes nomination yesterday, but still no word from Cardin. I, too, heard that he coordinates to make sure there are minimal double noms ....

I got my letter from Sen. Cardin in the mail today (dated Jan 12). Not good news, but I'm working something out with my representative so it may work out in the end :)

DS received nominaton from rep., MD-7 for USNA and MMA. Received the rejection from Cardin today as was expected since they don't duplicate noms. I appreciate Member LG letting us know why we hadn't heard ealier. Now the wait begins.

Daughter just received Cardin letter stating that she had been selected by the board to receive the nomination, but that he chose to "defer to Senator Mikulski" to eliminate duplicate nominations. Oh well ....

Same here, my DS son had receieved an nom from Mikulski in Dec and got a nom from MD-3 last week, so he got a similar, congrats but defer letter from Cardins's office. Made sense, now waiting for the USNA to hopefully say yes.

DS received nomination from Sen. Cardin to USMA (letter arrived on Saturday). As for MD-6 congressional nominations, my DS talked to someone at Rep. Bartlett's office late last week...who said that they were still planning to wait until January 31. Not sure if that was just their standard answer (which is the date listed on the application letter), or if they really plan to mail letters sooner. Good luck to all those still waiting!!

This might help certain kids at MD 6 as I know of at least 2 kids from MD 06 that got Senator Cardin's nomation.

I don't know if Rep Bartlett has no double nomination policy or not.
