Boots and ACU's ?

hey guys! Ive read around that at Noriwich you have to provide your own boots is that true? If so do any of you have some recommendations?

Ive also heard from rooks in years past that they would advise to bring an extra set of ACU's with you, so you have one pair to get dirty in and another always ready for inspections and such.
Can you do that?
Is it worth it?
If so, what should I be looking for?

I cant say for sure on whether or not that is true. However I whole heartedly recommend the nike combat boots(<://store.nike.com/us/en_us/?l=shop,pdp,ctr-inline/cid-1/pid-179377/pgid-438377>). My MSIV's came back from LDAC and raved about them the first month of mil sci.

My son got a pair of warm weather boots for rook week. Also got cold weather ones for later in the year. Not sure about ACU. They will send you a letter on what to bring. I think it was on the website also. You will be issued a lot of your clothing when you get there. I think you need to bring teashirts etc, Follow the instructions they tell you. The extra stuff my son brought was locked up in storage until winter break.

BTW start running evey day now. Pushups and sittups also. It will make life a lot easier in August. Spend an hour a day now. This is really important.

My son bought these boots himself online. He did get a bunch of other pairs from the Army for the schools he attended later on.

Don't know what military training requirement at Norwich is but taking a big risk breaking in your new boots during first long road march. Don't care how strong or fast you are, a blister developed during a road march sucks.

Really good and important point. Break them in well in advance.
 
Norwich uniforms

Our son purchased 2 pr. of summer boots, 2 pr. winter boots and 2 pr. of dress shoes in May last year to get them broken in before August. Soak those boots to break them in to avoid blisters. The Dog River Run will soak those boots and will take awhile to dry. Having a spare pair of boots/shoes is a good idea but all of this is expensive. $900.00 for 6 pr. of shoes!

Nike boots have to be possibly the worst choice of boots out in the field, however in garrison they feel great and look good too. I am from Washington and I have been to LDAC. In my opinion stick to Belleville, Bates, Altama and ROCKY boots out in the field, especially with the wet weather we have in WA. Gor-tex boots are not allowed technically but I was able to sneak mine in (Trust me many people got their feet soaked from morning dew and intermittent rains).
