I will emphatically agree the Ft Polk IS the armpit of military locations within the US.
Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, compares to spending 5 months at Kwang Ju AB, Korea, however. When you actually say "We're going to Kunsan this weekend!" with enthusiasm and excitement, you know you're staying in a place where you can actually smell the brimstone (or the Bin-Ju ditch, in this case)....
