For those who might be interested, the Drill Teams from the SMCs and many other schools around the nation will be competing at an annual drill meet in New Orleans next week. Here is the link for the live video feed if you want to watch it:

http://www.wwltv.com/live-stream/exempt (local folks can watch it on Channel 4).

I do not have a link for the event itself, so I can only confirm that Norwich will be competing, but the others (TAMU, North Georgia, etc.) will likely be there as well as they have in the past.

Lets go Shock Platoon. If they win they can get added to the Rook Book again.

The University of South Carolina Gamecock Battallion shipped out at 05:00 EST today for the competition. Thanks for the link patentesq. DS wasn't keen on our attending. It will be great to watch. :thumb:

NO!:thumb: One of the best cities in the world to visit as a uniformrd moron.

Auburn University arrived in NO this afternoon!! WAR EAGLE!

Proud Midshipman Mom

DS said South Carolina Gamecock Battalion came in 2nd overall. He didn't mention any other results and I do not expect to hear from him again this evening as they were on their way to Bourbon Street around 18:00. Gee, I wonder what for? He must want to get his mamma some beads.

The Fightin' Texas Aggie Fish Drill Team Class of 2015 came out with a National Championship after only practicing since mid-November. They are a truly talented bunch every year.

Congrats to the Aggies! I'll have to tell all my Aggie alumni golfing buddies. I swear, those guys are EVERYWHERE! And they take my money when we play golf to boot. What's up with that?

And I should have asked MorganC. Are you on the drill team? I'm guessing not since you posted in the third person.

As a member of the competition this year and for the previous two years, I must say that the Meet went well overall. As a member of the University of South Carolina Gamecock Battalion, we are proud to have been able to achieve our success this year. We placed first in both Platoon Regulation and Squad Regulation, as well as having the first place Individual Exhibition driller. Look out Aggies, we're on the move! We're never satisfied with a second place finish!

Oh, and in response to a short practicing schedule, I think we have TA&M beat. We start our practice schedule after returning from winter break in January and made our final cuts for the regulation platoon four weeks ago. Practice at 0-dark-thirty, full day of classes, followed by practice in the late evenings. Motivation, dedication.

Look for us at Memphis, we'll make a clean sweep for the second year in a row!

The Kings Point Drill Team competed at the National Drill Meet at Tulane University on February 17, 2012. The team took second place overall and first place in the platoon exhibition event! Well done KP!

^^^^^^^^reposted from USMMA thread. Is this the same competition? Are there different categories for Academies? Congratulations to all around. NoLA!
Lucky parents who got to go to that, the food alone! IiiiiiiiEeeee!

Yes, young uniformed poster getting beads, they have food there! :shake:

Nope, I chose not to to FDT. But one of my fish buddies is the FDT Guidon. And congrats to South Carolina! That is really impressive. FDT better watch out next year.

DS's report upon return to Columbia SC

Too much homework, too little sleep, too much fattening food, too much money spent, and so many good memories made :) Had an awesome Mardi Gras with the rest of the Dream Team!

I'm sure all the midshipmen and cadets experienced the same. Congratulations to ALL the participants. Now on to Memphis!

KP Drill Team

Way to GO KP!! Not bad for our FIRST Time! Watch Out Aggies, 1st Overall will be ours next year. You can guarantee we will be back to defend our 1st in EX.

We all had a great time, the camaraderie and sportsmanship of every team was incredible. All the teams that competed truly consist of our nations finest men and women.

Congrats KP. Like you said, great job for the first time out.

I feel like bragging about not beginning to drill until winter break isn't the attitude conducive to beating Fightin' Texas Aggies. One of my fish buddies is squad leader on this year's team and the only thing he said was that everyone hated not being able to drill until the start of November this year.
