Hello! I have been working on the AROTC scholarship since it opened, but I am curious to know when the first board meets? It would be nice to complete my application a while before that (All I have to do is the essay and transcripts). Thanks!

Not sure if the dates for next years boards have been released yet.

The first board is usually toward the end of October requiring everything be submitted at least a couple weeks before.

Clarkson will probably post next years official board dates when it gets closer.

Take a deep breath and relax a little...It's good that you are on top of things, but I would caution you that being too soon has it's drawbacks. Dates aren't out yet, but plan on October. So, make sure you remember your password and make sure you update your infomation as soon as things change. Keep your list of schools updated, test scores current, and if you add any SAL info to your resume, get it added to your application.

Good luck

Thanks! I forgot to mention, I still have to do my ACT/SAT (I am taking it march 10th).

On the application, I don't see anything regarding an interview or PFT. Do I learn more about that process after I submit the initial application?

@Fengawr, your taking things way to fast man, especially if you haven't even taken/received your SAT and ACT scores yet. Its great that your excited about the process and the scholarship, but don't focus on the application until the summer. You can best spend your time just simply getting things organized, as theres quite a bit of paperwork, for the application now. I believe the PFT is a form that is sent to you and you fax/mail back and they will notify you if you have been "selected for an interview with the PMS at the school of your choice" on your status portal, which you probably haven't even been able to get into yet. They are still finishing up this years scholarship awards, haha, I don't think they are going to worry about next years cycle until June-July at the earliest

My son started working on his application in his junior year; however, he waited to finish and submit it until summer because he was still participating in and completing things like Boys State, Life Guard certification and etc. that he wanted to add to his application. As clarksonarmy said, take a deep breath. Being early is good but being accurate, complete and thorough is just as important. Yes, you can add these things later and the contacts at Cadet Command are helpful, but I get the feeling they are very busy and it does take time for them to respond to your request. I think it is easier to submit a complete package in a timely manner than it is to submit one early and have to keep sending information to Cadet Command. As I said my son submitted his application in the summer and this still gave him time to submit the extra-curricular activities form to his guidance counselor, have his interview completed and etc before school started back in the fall. (Since he also had an open file at West Point he was able to complete his DODMERB exams over the summer.) You will get instructions from Cadet Command about your interview after you submit your application. (Just a note, I highly recommend interviewing at your number one choice school even if it is some distance away from your home.)

In addition, plan on taking those ACTs and SATs several times, even if you have a good score the first time. Look into Boys State, my son had a great time there!

It worked for my son, he received a four year offer to an in state school and a three year offer to an out of state Senior Military College as a result of the recent January board.

Wow...great advice. Definitely endorse Boy's State! If you take a look at the rest of my blog there is an article that shows you what that first letter you get from Cadet Command should look like. This year there was a glitch and some applicants didn't get that first letter. That will explain how to get your interview done, and how to take care of your PFT.

Thanks for all the advice! I actually have gotten in my application for Boy's State (They don't actually accept people until April).

As more my overall application, I just wanted to get it started. I know that I shouldn't rush it, given that I have many plans for this semester. I guess I am just a little bit stressed regarding school and sports.
