I completed everything from the physical to getting it sent to DoDmerb. It now says Under Dodmerb Review. Now what comes after? what am I anticipating? Whats the worse case scenerio? Want everything to run smoothly.

You wait a couple weeks for DoDMERB to review your file. If everything is satisfactory, you will be deemed medically qualified and you will receive a letter in the mail stating this.

If DoDMERB finds something that they feel might be reason for disqualification and they want more information about, they may request a remedial. A remedial could be as simple as contacting your doctor to get more information about your medical history, or to have your doctor write a statement saying you are healthy enough to perform military tasks. (An example would be that my doctor had to give DoDMERB a statement saying that my foot, the one I fractured, was healthy enough to run on.) If the problem is more serious, or more in depth than a simple medical history check, you may be required to make an appointment with a medical specialist to conduct another examination.

If you are disqualified, but are a highly qualified candidate for the Service Academy you wish to attend, you may receive a waiver from said academy that will write off your medical problem. The waiver process is started by the academy, and you have basically no control over it. (As far as I know.)

Your worst case scenario is being disqualified and not receiving a waiver from an Academy, in which case you will be deemed ineligible for service.

Good luck!

My son had his medical exam last week for AROTC, and all the paperwork was forwarded to DoDMERB on Monday or Tuesday or this week. Early this week his status read "Under Review.."

This afternoon he logged onto the DoDMERB website and checked his current status. His "Current Medical Status" reads "Qualified". Does this mean that he is good-to-go?
