I'm sure by now about everyone knows the whole deal with the NWL and how it is mostly decided by WCS, besides a few exceptions regarding special circumstances. I am wondering if anyone out there knows which activities/positions are weighted higher when calculating WCS. I was lucky enough to get my Eagle Scout and be named team captain of Track&Field just about a week and a half before the app deadline. Will this boost my WCS as much as I think or will I pretty much stay where I am?

I would think that those are the things that West Point is looking for. Make sure you send an update to your admissions officer quickly. They might need it verified, too.

I heard that being an Eagle Scout is a huge plus, but don't quote me on that.

WCS is calculated with the following weights:
30% SAT/ACT;
30% Class Rank (weighted with school competitiveness and other academic information, I believe);
10% Sport participation/leadership;
10% Non-sport participation/leadership;
10% School Official's Evaluations (SOEs) - the mandatory online "teacher recommendations";
10% CFA.

I'm not sure how MUCH does being an Eagle Scout weight... but, rumor has it, probably a lot.

Both Eagle Scout and Captain of a varsity team are significant and will give your WCS a good boost. MAKE SURE THEY HAVE BEEN ENTERED ON YOUR FILE - CALL THE REGIONAL RC TO CONFIRM. Do not worry about bothering him. It is important that he reconizes your name in a positive way.

Thanks guys! I called him today and left a message. I want to get the updates on file by tuesday because thats when the admissions board meets.
