Dear all,
When does the preliminary application open for the class of 2017? Thanks!
USNR1315 My son applied to NASS the day the application process opened. Should he have received a candidate number by now if he is a competitive candidate?

Hello,
It looks as if to start applying for USNA Class of 2017 you should first apply to the Summer Seminar session coming up this summer. The "Apply to USNA" banner on the admissions home page, as of now, will not let you apply if you are graduating from HS after 2012. Once you apply for Summer Seminar, if you are a competitive candidate, you will be given a candidate number and have access to the Candidate Information System. You will get to know this page very well.
Cheers...
Thank you!!!Applying for NASS is not REQUIRED, but it is the earliest opportunity to apply. NASS is only for rising HS seniors (you apply during junior year of HS and, if selected, attend during the summer between junior and senior years). If you are not interested in attending NASS, or if you are already a HS senior or college student, the USNA Preliminary Application will open on line shortly after the NASS application closes. If you ARE interested in NASS for this summer, be sure to apply soon. If I recall correctly, that application opened about a month ago.
You can of course contact your BGO prior to that but he/she can't see your information, won't know if you're an official candidate, won't be able to submit an interview, etc.
do they have a say in nass selection?
