I am a contracted AROTC cadet, and I got my military ID earlier today...DD Form 2 (Reserve)...the green one. Can anyone tell me what that allows me to do? For instance, does that give me the ability to shop at the commissary at a nearby base? Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

It dores allow you to use the exchange at a nearby base. Don't know what other privileges might apply.
 
Ya it allows access to the gym, commissary, discounts, PX etc. However the reserves doesn't use the old green card anymore (all CAC) so everyone knows you're a cadet when you use it :shake:. I have had my share of quips, ex-SGTs giving me advice and various insults when I use it. I live next to a gigantic army base by the way so there are more ways to make use of your card.

Thanks for the info guys.

As for the card only being used by cadets, I think I might just save myself some trouble and hang a big "CADET" sign around my neck lol.

Oh I am sure they are! Its really not that bad but to the E-3s/4s who gave me crap just give me a few more months :tank: haha next time it's attention not sarcasm.

ROTC Cadets are in the last category. Same as National Guard, Army Reserve, and Retirees.

If you are thinking of flying Space A, let me know. I'll advise you whether or not your itinerary is realistic.
 
Here's a really weird questions Wolfpack, what did your cadre tell you when you asked them what privileges your ID card got you. Just wondering why you asked a discussion board, and not your cadre.

Ok, pie in the sky time, but, I have a few friends from NOLA who are studying in Sussex. They keep asking me to visit, but I don't have the money for the airfare. Is it at all possible to do Space A to the UK?

Cadets cannot fly internationally on Space A.

If you are Active Duty, you can fly from Dover, McGuire, or Stewart to Mildenhall or Lakenheath in England.
