My son is a USCGA hopeful and also has many plan B's. He will be 20 1/2 when he graduates academy/college. I keep seeing the minimum age as 21. Are waivers common for this or does he have to hang out until he turns 21 to be commissioned?
So long as he is a graduate, it won't matter. He will have to be 17 years of age prior to R-day though, which is usually the limiting factor for age when attaining your commission.
Not 17 by R Day, but by July 1 of the year you enter.
With R Day this year coming on June 25, you could have a few 16-year olds reporting.
OCS and DCE have minimums of 21.
Most high school graduates turn 18 during their senior year or shortly thereafter where I live.
