So next year Im planning on doing NROTC Marine Corps option at either Norwich University or Texas A&M

I have no scholarship

After my first year if I decide I want to commission, how hard will it be to obtain a scholarship? If thats next to impossible, can I still commission?

Thanks for your time.

There are few in school scholarships but they do exist and you will perhaps have a better chance by attending an SMC. However, if you don't get a scholarship then you must obtain Advanced Standing by your rising junior year. The process is the same as getting an in school scholarship but when you apply for the 2 year scholarship in your sophmore year, if you are not awarded a scholarship then you will be considered for Advanced Standing by the same board. Getting Advanced Standing, which by definition is easier than getting a scholarship, should be doable and will allow you to commission. Of course, it all depends on the needs of the service at the time. Even if you don't get advanced standing then you can consider PLC and OCS as backup plans. You'll benefit from being in NROTC during your first tywo years even if you don't make the Advanced Standing cut. Good Luck! :thumb:
