I am currently a Nursing major on scholarship in ROTC. I will be going to field training this summer. My question is, do nursing majors get selected to fly planes? I would love to have the best of both worlds (medical degree and flying). My PFA is 100% and i also have some private flying hours. My gpa is around a 3.2. Are nursing majors considered for pilot slots? What would i need to do to become competitive?

What did your cadre tell you when you asked them??

my cadre said nursing majors could apply. However, i wanted to know if nursing majors get "dismissed" when rated slots are being chosen since they are in such high demand.

Are you on a general scholarship or a nursing scholarship?

He's talking about field training this summer, so I assumed AF. I'm pretty sure I know what the answer is for Army.

They may not be selected because as you stated it is a field that has a shortage currently. The same is true for certain language majors.

I have known flight nurses during Bullet's career, but they did not attend UPT, instead they went to a short course to learn about being on the plane while treating patients.
