Possible dates on whether you made it or did not?

I am still waiting on AROTC and NROTC Marine Option Scholarships so when am I going to finally find out whether or not I should start getting ready to walk onto a ROTC program or get a scholarship?

Or have I already passed the point where nobody else is getting letters or do they not give you letters if you weren't accepted?

I believe the final boards for both are sometime in March. I would expect you will hear one way or the other in April. My DS got his 'not selected' letter last year in April. You should hear in plenty of time for most colleges' May 1 acceptance deadline.

The final AROTC Scholarship Board just met today Mar. 5th. It will take them some time to go through all the applications. I would expect you will start to see some status changes in 2 to 3 weeks unless it takes longer to review the applications since this is the last board.

Worried

My son's status for nrotc marine option reads:

Application has been submitted online
Your application is at your local Recruiter for initial processing

It has said this for months now, does this mean he didn't get it?

We haven't heard anything and it's May, 2012.

Should I be worried?

If you haven't heard from Army, you probably won't...I would suggest contacting a ROO one of your schools to verify. They should be able to tell you for sure.

The last NROTC mo board met in March or early April. The was a small flurry on the forums as people heard. As I recall this was mid to late April. I cannot say this with authority but I would expect your son was not a scholarship winner. Of course things do get lost in the mail so I would suggest you make some phone calls to confirm. In the meantime where no large financial expense is needed I would proceed with plan B. Since you haven't heard one way or the other I would try to avoid any commitments if possible until you have confirmed by phone.
