It depends on what your cadet leader is like on doolie day  When I was there, mine liked to run my group. :shake: They all can devise pain in their own unique way :thumb: haha it also depends where you are from. Since you are from IL I would suggest you keep preparing well past what you think makes you ready because the academy is 6,000 feet higher than the highest point in IL

If you're in good shape then don't worry about it. Doolie day is barely half a day. I'm from California and I did okay with the altitude change. Just drink lots of water. Enjoy yourself; summer seminar is tons of fun. That and AIM very well made my summer.

yeah if he's in good shape he should have nothing to worry about. Just be aware of the altitude difference. 1/3 of the people in my session decided to leave what was left of their dinner on the tzo the first morning haha. which session were you in awl13188?

I first read the post that you were asking about the CFA and scores for that. Just in case you were, you will do a practice CFA (including those events) and they'll tell you how your scores are (or at least what you need to work on) but it won't necessarily be in the right order as a normal one, nor will it count like the USNA/USMA ones during their summer seminars.

Session 3. I actually remember throwing up too, but it was just water that I drank. The most tiring thing was probably walking from place to place on campus and trying to stay awake during briefings, haha. I had a great time though, it was an amazing experience.

@abrownlths: The CFA averages and maxes can be found on pages 9 and 10 if this is what you were wondering. =)

No, they didn't make us eat until after the morning workouts. But I still threw up, once, while doing squats and then again when one of the cadre asked me if I was okay after hurling once.

In other words, if you get past the altitude sickness and hydrate, the physical part is not bad at all. In fact, I am no athlete but I had tons of fun competing with my squad on the t-zo run:shake:. Doolie for a day is not bad either, my cadre had a particular appreciation for flutter kicks:wink:

hiya. First, if you are asking about the cfa, max scores can be found online. Secondly, because of the altitude at usafa the cfa you take there will only be "practice" so don't worry. Train to exceed the averages posted online.

As for the summer seminar, if you're in shape for the cfa, you are in shape for the seminar. our morning workouts went something along this line: stretches, laps around the terrazzo or Indian runs, pushup/situp workouts etc. I would say if you can run a mile or two easily, and are steong on pushups and sit ups you will have a great time. Pm me of you have any other questions! ps. Search the summer seminar on YouTube..it helps too.

Maybe look up ultimate frisbee, I didn't know what it was. :)

Couldn't have said it better :thumb:

DS went to the summer seminar this past summer. We live at 24 feet above sea level. He didn't struggle too much, BUT...he was in great shape. We had gone to Philmont, NM backpacking the summer before and he continued the workout that we did for mountain backpacking. He was also a football player and was doing "2 a day" practice 6 days a week right before the SS. What will help you the most is doing "bleachers." Run up and down your HS bleachers, run to the other side, run up and down them too, repeat until exhausted. Drink lots of water, both while working out, and at USAFA. If you are in good shape when you arrive, you won't struggle as much going up stairs and running up and down the little hills at the academy grounds. Which means you'll enjoy it more. Good luck to those selected to participate!
