We went the CVW this weekend and they said that the class was only about half full. They then said everyone should know by the 15th of April. They said all of this several times.

"half full"

I'm sorry to disappoint, but i'm pretty sure that 'half full' are those with confirmed appointments, i.e. those that said they would go. there are still some 400 or so outstanding offers of appointment that may or may not go- so if 80% of those accept their appointment, then really close to 80% of the class is full. today those figures should change, even this week is likely to have a lot of replies because last weekend was one with lots of ivy league accept/reject notices and it might impact appointment decisions.

Don't lose hope though, I'm still waiting too!

wait listed

Yup! They are full. DS just got wait listed. When I opened up mail box and saw TWE, I felt like I was kicked in stomach. DS said I could open letter while at school. Guess wait listed means he stills has tiny chance. We are from California. DS has been notified of NROTC/Marine option scholarship.

just because your ds was wait listed doesn't mean that there aren't spots left to give out.

I am glad my DS is much tougher than I am - I find this cliffhanger very challenging. Excruciating.

you sound like my mom. I havent heard either way yes, no, or waitlist but i know people in my area have gotten a rejection letter. She is getting anxious lol  but dont worry we will all get through it!

Wait letter said they have sent out 1300 offers of appointment. 1190 is the 2016 class size. If less than 1190 accept the offers they will start taking off the wait list in mid to late May till mid June.

so if i did not hear anything by now i got wait listed??? i dont understand how it works now.... Many of people that i met from nass and boy state did not get anything yet...

Waitlisted

Son got his waitlist TWE yesterday on his birthday...What a disappointing BDay gift!! Can't believe he is waitlisted. 2nd tie around. Last year he got letter saying he was triple Q'd but did not get nomination, this year he got nomination and has better grades and better qualifications all around.

Be aware that nothing in the Admissions process is on autopilot; each decision is a separate process. Being 3 q'd does not guarantee anything beyond just what it says: you have been found to be qualified in the three aspects. You may at the top of that stack or the bottom. Not hearing that you have an offer of appointment or not getting a TWE at this time does not mean you are waitlisted. Admissions will make that designation specifically.

At this time the area I am in has four WL's with two offers of appointment hanging fire. It doesn't get any easier going forward.

Best wishes to all of you still in the hunt!

Hope?

@1964BGO

Are you saying that there is still a chance for regular appointment at this point?

Confused with all the posts

So some of these posts say all the letters/packages are out for appointments...others say there are still some to come. Does anyone truly know if I should stop stalking my mailbox and hanging onto my phone? Does this mean the dreaded TWE/QNS letter is the only thing I am waiting for? Thanks.

At this point, the overwhelming majority of people still waiting will receive a TWE or WL letter. There are cases of people receiving the BFE in early April so there are probably still a few appointments in the mail as well but, honestly, not many at this point.

BTW, one exception could be those waiting on a medical issue -- especially those with LOAs and a nom. USNA does sometimes hold these appointment offers until it is determined whether a waiver will be granted or, more commonly, whether a medical issue clears up in time. For example, someone may need 6 months after surgery and a clean bill of health from the surgeon. If that 6 months ends on May 15, USNA would probably hold that appointment pending that medical review. If the person doesn't clear by a certain (unknown to me) deadline, the appointment will generally offered to someone on the WL.
