I'm a candidate from overseas who had 'nowhere else to go' but to apply for the VP nomination. I know I'm triple qualified at the Academy, got on the 'short-list' for the VP and I have not, as of today, rcv'd any formal notification from the Academy as to whether a TWE is on the way or not. Since the postal system over here (Italy) is anything but reliable, the agonizing wait that everybody else is going through is ever MORE agonizing for me ... for all I know the Academy dinged me, wait-listed me or something along those lines ... but I won't know any time soon or ever since they send everything out by post. Any news or advise would be infinitely appreciated !
I've already got Plan B down (accepted to 4 of my top 5 schools and waitlisted at the 5th ... still waiting on the NROTC scholarship board, but at least I know I can go to school and do the College Option). Anybody know more than I do on this score ?

I would give admissions a call and explain that your overseas and you want to check on the status of your application...just tell them that your worried about it getting lost in the mail..
Good Luck!!!

diplomat?

Are you a diplomat? what do you mean by VP short list? I'm a dip too and I'm hoping that overseas experience is a positive with admissions, especially in the middle east. (morocco, yemen, egypt, jordan- total of 12 years in those four plus two more in sri lanka during tsunami)

my ds just got a form letter "your application for vp nom has been received" a couple of weeks ago, and this was two months after he received his appointment via our congressman's nomination! so I think their process is moving slowly.

I took SAMom's advise and wrote my admissions counselor an email explaining the mail issue ... first time ever the Academy answered back within the day ... wish it'd been better news :frown: ... guess there's a TWE in my future and the VP Nom went elsewhere. At least I know now though and can move forward with plan B. Good luck to all those others who are still waiting !

Sorry to hear that, but keep going and dont give up. Reapply next year I know a lot of people who reapply and get in!!!

In the recent past up to 30 per cent of entering classes were candidates who had been out of high school for at least one year. There is no stigma attached to having try more than once; this is a very competitive admissions process. Best wishes.
