Hi y'all!

I just received news today from Admissions that I will not be getting an appointment for the USAFA class of 2016. Its saddening news, but we all have to face reality when it comes to the level of excellence Admissions is look for this year.

This thread is directed to those who have received news/TWE and will applying next year for the United States Air Force Academy Class of 2017!

I am sorry to hear about your news, skydivingkittens. DS received his TWE today. He will also be a member of the re-applying club for next year. What is your Plan B?

Welcome to the club! I hope it will be a promising year (and next)! Plan B is NWP, but also hoping for a prep school slot. :thumb:
 
Hey guys,

I'm sorry to hear that you received some bad news. Last year I was in the same boat. I was devastated when I found out but I was determined to go to my dream school. I reapplied and here I am an upcoming freshman to the USAFA. I would say don't be discouraged as I'm sure you were all great candidates. The academy looks favorably on those who reapply. Good luck next year!!

Awesome, good luck to you. I will look forward to following your re-application next year. DS doesn't get on here much--he prefers to let me stalk and just report to him. I am still holding out hope for that you, DS, and a few others get those few Prep Academy slots.

Haven't heard anything official on my status yet, but I'm going to assume I've got a TWE in my mailbox. (Don't have a key to check it.) I'll be reapplying next year as well. Hoping for a prep school slot too!

Agreed! Have fun as a basic, Astro! Just remember when you're crawling through the mud and getting tear gassed that I'll be back at home sipping some lemonade and enjoying a nice game of ultimate frisbee with my pals.

Haha, that's what I keep telling myself to try and ease the pain (and my TWE hasn't even come yet :p)... But truth is, when it comes down to it, I'd really prefer the tear gas if it meant I was appointed! What a concept! :yllol:
 
Just found that TWE in my mailbox. I have to admit, I was kind of expecting it at this point so I had already kind of accepted it. Plan B is looking good though, going to be doing AFROTC at NC State rooming with one of my best friends (who's also doing AFROTC), and of course waiting to hear about a Prep school offer. I'm definitely reapplying for next year.

According to our posts, we're not (technically) out of the running yet. My TWE is 99% surely in the mail and coming tomorrow or wednesday, but we can still pretend that we have a chance.

Sorry to hear that, but welcome to the club! Definitely reapplying next year. Still waiting on USAFAPS, if I don't get it, then off to NWP.
 
Thanks for starting the thread, kittens! Raptor is now taking a break from stalking his portal, but he'll be back on July 1 when it reopens. :smile: We need a good checklist of what can be recycled and what needs to be done over. I'm sure there are a lot of great posts in last year's reapplying club thread.
 
Re-applying

If you reapply as a free agent you will need to do everything all over again. DS did new essays and fresh letters of recommendation. If you are a sponsored prep you will not be able to start your application until they tell you to and it is a little less involved...no essays :smile: The only thing that doesn't change either way is the nomination application.

TWE today, I'm in for reapplying though. :smile: I can't complain too much about Plan B, and of course, I'm still hanging in there for Prep.

Although it may be Gatorade instead of lemonade in the bottle, the appointees will get to play ultimate frisbee during Basic since they have intramurals a couple times a week! Something for you to look forward to next year when you get in! Hoping that all of you that plan on reapplying get a BFE early in the process next year!
