Any other 2016 USCGA hopefuls out there who are still waiting?

We are still faithfully stalking the mailbox. :) Time grows so short!!! We are feeling like we are the only ones left without an answer, which of course, surely isn't the case. Just wondering who else is still out there waiting. It's April 9th for goodness sake! At least we know the waiting will be over soon. :)

My DS is still waiting to hear also. But we did receive a letter a week and a half ago stating that his app would be being reviewed in the next few weeks. Although getting that letter answered some questions, the feeling of seeing the TWE in the mailbox was emotional to say the least! You are not alone!

Awaiting here as well. I was wondering the same thing...if anyone had heard anything and did not want to post.

DS received the same TWE (the file in now review one) a week or so ago....he is a reapplicant and off at college. I saw your post of the TWE and did not panic as much as I probably would have if you had not posted about it.

Best wishes to each of you.

Good luck to you guys!

It is exciting and excruciating all at the same time. I think we are all in the same boat (ha ha). We all were recently sent to the review board. Keep us posted. I hope there are BFEs in the near future!

Still waiting to

We are still waiting here to got the being reviewed dated March 23rd. The waiting is so hard, but hopefully no news is good news

Still waiting

We are still stalking the mailman here in So. California.
Good luck!

also waiting!

My DD is still waiting. We live overseas so our mail takes a bit longer. Our hopes are dwindling ...

Still waiting here too. I HOPE no news is good news. Got the "false" TWE over four weeks ago that said app was going for review. This is the hardest thing we have ever been through. He wants it (and deserves it) so badly. Good Luck Everyone!!

Keep the faith everyone. DS did not get his BFE until after what we thought was the absolute deadline last year. The waiting was excruciating. Also your kids could be put on the wait list which would mean more waiting to possibly be selected later, maybe only days before R-Day. Your kids have done very well to have made it this far into the process, and will be successful on what ever path they end up following. Good luck to you all, we are thinking of you. Now I have to go check my email. We have been waiting several weeks to see what our cadets summer schedule will be. I guess it never ends.

Texam'sMom, hang in there! No news is good news.:thumb:

DS received his TWE on Saturday dated April 4th, 2012.
Letter from Captain Finton mentioned that over 2,500 students throughout the nation applied for appointments and they had to review more apps than in the last 2 decades! As you probably realize, this is a a very selective year.

We are on to Plan B and most colleges and universities require notification by May 1st. Still a small chance of going the self prep route @ Marion Military Institute.

So sorry to hear about your DS' TWE. I suspect that most of us are heading in the same direction at this point. However, it's not over 'til the fat lady sings. I know that there are so many amazing young men and women, your DS included, who did not receive an appointment yet have seriously bright futures. Good luck to your son! I'm sure he will be successful no matter which plan he chooses!

It's so nice to "meet" all of you! We just need to hang in there for a few more days. I suspect there is at least another BFE or two heading to members of this forum. Good luck to you all! May the mail be ever in you favor!

Same to you Texan's mom good luck to everyone they all deserve to be accepted with all the hard work. the mail watch continues tommorrow nothing today:rolleyes:

Nothing here today either. At least I'm earning these gray hairs honestly! Good luck everyone. I hope we all get to meet on the parade ground at the Academy!

Does anyone know???

I also received a letter about two weeks ago that said that my application was under review. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I've been evaluated at least once in the admissions process. Does anyone know if receiving this letter means anything more than a mere re-evaluation. Perhaps on the direct edge between admission or wait-list? Maybe even just making it to the final round of evaluations? Does anyone have an idea on what it might mean?

Giles, have your DS contact your area CGA recruiter. He was the one that has been the best source of information for us her in NC. Good Luck, I am trying to convince my DS to go to Marion on the self-prep route and re-apply for the class of 2017.

If I remember correctly During the Genesis Invitational, it was explained the first round evaluates the application to see if the basic standards are met. For example, does the applicant meet the height and weight standards, etc. Then it's on to DoDMERB, then where we are at now, the actual review. Is the applicant a good fit for the Academy and show potential. The first two steps are pretty black and white now the review is objective. I hope I explained it clearly. As I went to the mail box today there was a TWE...but...all I saw were the words Coast Guard...it's from Coast Guard Mutual Assistance for my husband (USCG Ret)!!! Ugh!!! This is hell!! That was scare number two! First was the under review letter and now this....hopefully number three is the charm!!!

USCGA doesn't use recruiters, those are for enlisted.

He can try to contact his Admissions Officer at the USCGA, but honestly with only a few days left until the admissions cycle is complete he may get an envelope (BFE or TWE) before he gets a response.
