AF ROTC

Does the AF ROTC program pay for ALL of college?

You need to do some research on the AF ROTC website.

There are 3 types of AF scholarships, each one pays differently. Look them up and you should find all the info your looking for.

The short answer is no!

ALL to me includes R & B, AFROTC will only pay for tuition, as Jcleppe stated there are 3 types and the amount they pay varies.

The reason many AFROTC scholarship recipients say they have a full ride is the quality of the recipients from an academic perspective usually gets them merit scholarships from the college which they can use to pay for R & B.

Additionally, there are some colleges that give reduced rates for ROTC students. There is a sticky at the top of the ROTC forum that discusses the schools that people know of who offer these benefits.

It has been asked before about if the tuition is lower than the 18K (Type 7) will AFROTC credited any remaining portion to the entire cost. The answer is NO. If the tuition bill is 12K, they do not allow the bursar to use the remaining 6K to R & B, or cut a check to the cadet. It is 12K and that is it because that is the cost of the tuition.

My son missed the deadline for freshman scholarships. At orientation for the AFROTC, We were told that funding had been cut and very few get them now. If he was going into a medical or engineering field, he might. This means for all 4 years. He would get the stipend as junior and senior, but most likely nothing else . They are very competitive and he would need an ACT of 30 and excellent grades to even stand a chance. Not what I wanted to hear.
