It's been so quiet, and we've been stalking the mailman daily .... so far no TWE, but nothing else either. It seems so late and other deadlines are looming. Is anyone else still in limbo?

If you have not received a rejection letter you are still in the running. Remember that the vast majority of offers have been made but a few will reject their offers before the May 1 deadline. In addition, another few will get hurt, get in trouble etc. CALL YOUR REGIONAL ADMISSIONS OFFICER DIRECTLY (NO CLERKS) AND ASK HIM WHAT YOUR STATUS IS.

Yes, my DS is an Ohio nominee with absolutely nothing in the mail. Heard from USNA and USAFA (TWE's) but not USMA. Still hopeful as we got very good indications from our MOC that he was in 'good shape' for principal nominee. Called Regional Admissions Officer today- awaiting any news.

Deathly quiet! Unfortunately, it is because virtually all offers have been sent out. If you are still waiting, it is because WP is waiting to hear back from all offers out there! There will be a few who decline their offers (they were accepted at an Ivy or another reach school...), but I would imagine that number won't exceed 50! Nothing to back up that number, other than the fact that there has been so much discussion on smaller class size. We on the NWL are part of this crazy waiting game! Good Luck!

Rough numbers - about 2,400 were totally qualified AND have a nomination. About 1050 of these will be admitted. Again approximate numbers:
Class of 2016
From House of Rep 435
From Senators 100
From Service Connections (Presidential, NG, Active, Rotc etc) 300
From NWL (by law) 150 (mostly LOA people)
That is 985 people. The Class of 2016 will be about 1050
That leaves on about 65 slots to "round-out" the class. These will be mostly minorities and "underepresented groups"
As mentioned in other posts, there will be 50 or so slots opened as people decline their offers (May 1 deadline to accept). Therefore, about 50 of you that are still waiting will get an offer within the next 2-3 weeks.

Extremely quiet in MN for my DS as well....3 weeks ago my DS contacted his RO and he stated that there is still a chance for an offer of admission, but that admissions is moving extremely slow as they near the class size limit. He said that he would let us know as soon as he knows. So we sit and wait and pray for the best.

We are in Ohio and I am not convinced that all the principal appointees have been fully notified. We live in an area where that news spreads quickly and we haven't heard anything about any local appointees for our MOC or any next door MOC's. Imagine the mail will be active next day or two with BFE or TWE.

I am in the same boat too. I have yet to recive any offical word from West Point yet, not even letting me know if I am on the NWL or not. Ohio Parent I hope your right...I gave up an opportunity to study abroad in China and an air assualt school slot both through army rotc, just for the opportunity to go to the point. Best of luck to all of us. Oh and anyone whose still waiting, apply for a rotc scholarship its the next best option.

Kiaserwill, I hope the best for you since it sounds like you have up some incredible opportunities for this chance. My DS too has never received any correspondence whatsoever...not even a NWL letter. Sometimes I wonder what that means since I see on another thread that some are showing they have recieved offers from being on the NWL...Don't know what to think!!! My son does have a AROTC scholarship for the Hoya Batallion at Georgetown University as a back-up....making arrangements for Plan B just in case Plan A doesn't work out.

@BigNick, what about the Prepsters? I know that some of them use congressional nominations if they can procure them, but I know that a fairly large number use some other form of nomination (I'm guessing Superintendent), so where would they fit in?

DS is triple qualified, all green for candidate portal but next to transcripts isa blue "0", is this why hasn't heard either way. Is it too late? If not, which transcripts are missing?

Long wait continues

I still have a relative from NY waiting for a response. To the best of my knowledge, he has not received anything (TWE, BFE, NWL, etc.) from either USMA or USNA.

Don't have any answer for you. I just know that my DS's shows a blue "7" next to transcripts.

Thanks, must mean USMA has received 7 of 8 semester transcripts for high school. DS will have to follow up on "0" since he thought they were sent. Hope it is not too late.

Getting late into April, still no word either way for my DS. No news/reports of local nominees accepting from our region either. Getting a bit frustrated (understatement of the month). Still holding onto hope.

The majority of the people in the Prep School (not all) are either soldiers or recruited athletics. The soldiers normally get their appointments from the sevice connected pool - Active Duty, Reserves etc. The athletics get theirs from the Sup or unused congressional members - not ALL MOCs nominate people - believe it or not.

not ALL MOCs nominate people - believe it or not.

And sometimes the MOCs do nominate people who turn out to be not qualified. It is happening this year in one congressional district I am familiar with.

And some districts don't even get the 10 applicants who could be nominated.

Agree completely with RockyB :thumb:

Second time through here and even more flaws in the process got exposed this time around. Its not about people not caring or being politically correct or any of that stuff. In the end they do the best that they can, however.....

The best candidates do not always get in.
The brightest kids do not always get a fair shake.
Some of the criteria is outdated and irrelevant, yet it helps make a selection.
Geography matters, significantly.
Interviews are basically irrelevant, which means that your contact with a SA is irrelevant.

etc. etc. etc

Be advised this is nothing more than an observation of the facts as I experienced them over two years and not an indictment of any candidate or category.
