Does anyone have any insight as to when the USNA Foundation students will be notified of their appointments (or lack thereof)?

Any sense as to how many appointment slots these appointments will absorb?

Are they charged against MOC's / other nomination sources or are they taken against the Super's?

If I recall, it was about this time last year when formal notifications were given.

Any information you have would be appreciated. Thank you. Seahorse

I'm not sure about others...But I found out a few months ago. I received an email from an academy rep..followed by the foundation letter.

I think there around 60-70 foundation students. So they're going to be that many nominations. If they all do well then they'll all nominations. Usually from there local congresman (or woman). Its my understanding that foundation scholars are guranteed a spot at the academy as long as you do well.

USNA Foundation students MUST reapply to the MoC's and VP. The only "carry-over" nom is Presidential. Not saying it will happen this year but.............. in years past, only if the Prep tried all other nomination sources and failed, would the Foundation consider going for the Sup's nom.

The USNA Foundation notifies candidates for acceptance during the entire appointment selection process. We have some names come in as early as November and as late as May.

My advice, if selected for this honor, is to start (re)working all your nominations as soon as the MoC opens their website.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Major.

I believe I understand the process that the USNA Foundation offers cadidates the opportunity for the Foundation Program.

My questions is more related to those that are currently in it (Foundation Class of 2012), and as to when they might expect to hear about thier appointments.

Have your USNA Foundation students at NMMI been notified of their appointments yet (provided they were in good standing, and had received a MOC)?

And do you know whether these appointments are charged against the MOC's available slots / slates, or are Foundation students in a different category, considering the have been invited by USNA and the Foundation to participate.

Any info / insight you have would be appreciated.

Seahorse,

My USNA Foundation students obtained MOC noms. I can only speak generically here but; since they come here with noms from the previous year (Class of 2015), and they have the "support" of the Foundation (which is well known to the "staffers" of veteran MOC's) it is "usually" easier to get a nom for the following year (Class of 2016 this year).

Our students went to the Board earlier this week and are awaiting the final decision of the USNA Superintendant. I expect word TODAY!

Thanks Major,

Good luck to all of your candidates. After the CELEBRATION stops  please let us know how they did.

I'm still struggling with understanding whether their appointments are chaged against their MOC or some other source. Struggling in the sense ... as to whether it will impact the non-Foundation candidates (nominees) / appointments from a particular congressional district or state.

Again, that you for the info and good luck to your USNAF guys / gals.

I heard through the local USNA Parents club that some Foundation Scholarship students were notified yesterday (Friday) of their appointments by their respective MOC's. Not sure if they are NMMI students or not.

Good news / bad news....

Good news is these Foundation Scholarship students are starting to see the rewards of their "extra" year and hard work they've put into obtaining their appointments.

Bad news... from what I heard, they are absorbing MOC slots via the appointment process. I suspect this further reduces the number of available slots for those that have not heard (no TWE), or those that are on the Waiting List. (as I further speculate there will be very few that decline their appointment)

Congratuations to the Foundation students and best of luck to those still waiting to hear and / or are on the Waiting List.

Can confirm that a least one Foundation Student was notified last Friday of appointment by Member of Congress. Needless to say... student, parents, and family are very exicted.

Awaiting official paperwork.

Good luck to all of those still waiting.

SEAHORSE... I am not positive, but I belive these Foundation Students are treated like all others, in that they are counted against the MOC's slots available. Maybe some one else can confirm.
