FWIW - My daughter was assigned Max 1.Traditionally, like Agagles's DD, if it is an issue such as, must take summer classes due to scheduling issues...
He asked a one line question. He didn't say he couldn't go.I don't disagree kinnem, I am sure there is someone out there that will swap, but most of these cadets knew that this was happening this summer and so did their families. They planned for the what if... at least we did. Basically, our attitude was welcome to the AF DS...they say go, you go! Be thankful for the opportunity. I am not trying to be mean, rude or inconsiderate to Eagle, it is just living that life as a spouse for 20+ yrs, and DS living as a dependent we jumped to their tune, and that was just how life was. It is something I personally believe all cadets should become accustomed to regarding their AD future. Your personal life is secondary, the needs of the AF is primary. They need you to go Max 1.

Pima, this is ridiculous.Cravius,
Aren't you a HS student going AROTC? In your 22 posts none are AFROTC.
Flame me!
Do you understand the FT/EA AFROTC system?
If you don't, than IMPO, you don't understand the stress of attending FT at Maxwell for AFROTC regarding commissioning. It would be akin to AROTC and LDAC for me.
The C200 yr is make or break in AFROTC.
Packer,
I never stated he couldn't do it. Read my posts.
Kill me.
My "LECTURE" was to tell the OP, welcome to the AD life.
Should we pretend that their personal desires matter more than the military's needs?
JMPO, but I can't support a "swap" unless it is tied to the military. Cousin's wedding, sorry that is BS! Want to reduce your class load next fall/spring by taking summer courses that is BS!
Immediate family members having surgery, I am with you.
The idea that in the AF you have 100% decision in your life is total BS!
Go to Maxwell, come Aug/Sept after graduation and contracting, you belong to them (look at Gojira's thread).
JMPO, if Eagle expects the AF as an AD member to "swap" life as an O1 will be painful. Leaving before FT allows him to walk with no $$$ or time commitment.
Slam me personally, that is fine. My "LECTURES" at least made posters/lurkers, cadets, candidates and applicants to think twice before they opt this route.
Isn't that our goal here? Tell everyone the reality?
Like I said flame me, but when you do tell me I was wrong in my position for AFROTC EA/FT selected cadets without knowing how it impacts commitment to the AD AF is wrong too. We need to remove emotions, understand that the AF is a business. We also need to acknowledge AFROTC is not AROTC or NROTC! AROTC is not AFROTC. Army life is not AF life!
That is my position. Would a cadet tell their boss, SORRY, but I can't go on that business trip because my cousin is getting married or I wanted to take a summer class for my Masters?
NO! They would see it as a paycheck or job security.
I must be weird! However, before you say I am, please pull out that AFROTC contract and read the fine print!
Oh that's right cravius, I am entertaining, not educational!

Unless you are an AF vet, you have just as much knowledge as me on the "needs of the air force" and AD life.
