Get settled with academic year roommate, go to briefings, get issued items, get books for class, assimilate into his/her new company...busy week.

Coming from California.
What would be the best time for family to come visit during this time?
March Back on Aug 13th? or A Day on Aug 18th??
I know both would be best but Unfortunately parents wont be able to spend the whole week waiting / hoping to get a glimps of me..

You will not be able to see your parents during reorgy week. After acceptance day, you will be permitted priviledges (if you are not undergoing any unfavorable actions) to spend time with your family. Depending on the class, you may be allowed to eat with them in the surrounding communities and spend time with them at their hotels. You will have to return to the barracks by a certain time, though, unless you want to take pass. Most plebes take their pass later in the academic year (if it is still the same as when I was a plebe in 1997).

I believe last year the new plebes could go up to 75 miles away over A-Day weekend and go out to eat, shop, or go to the movies, etc.. I think they still had to be in uniform in public. You can visit your family's hotel but you can't spend the night---you have to report back to WP on Saturday night.

If your family is coming from California, I would just do A-Day. It's very special.

You will receive official instructions from West Point so wait for that before making big plans and expensive reservations. West Point changes the rules quite often!

You are correct. The plebes from class of 2014 had the 75 miles limit. For the class of 2015 the area was much smaller and did not include NYC. This changes year-to-year.

No, BigNick, you have them mixed up ---- 2014 could only go 35 miles away and had to stay in the hotel room once they arrived. They were allowed to eat at a restaurant going or coming to West Point but no shopping, movies, swimming, etc.

And 2013 had to stay within the Highland Falls area and leave said area only to go directly to their parents hotel rooms. Who knows, at this rate 2016 will be allowed to go home for the weekend. :biggrin:
